New HK P7 M8

Howiema:

Beautiful P7-M8, and I love those Nill grips! You got a very good deal at that price. As you may know, magazines aren't cheap, and can be difficult to get a hold of. Around here, a used P7-M8 starts at around $1,200.00. Most that I've seen advertised are at the $1,500.00 mark. If I recall correctly, my P7-PSP was around $500.00, but that was 5+ years ago.

Have you had a chance to shoot it yet? We need a range report. You will find that they can be very accurate with the lighter grain ammo (115 gr. and 124 gr. work very well in mine). I shot a perfect score when qualifying for my CHL, and scored another perfect score on my CHL renewal.

Regards,

Dave

They are really unique guns. Enjoy that one. I know a guy that carries one everyday and loves it.

Thanks Dave. My motivation to write that article was because so many folks were buying the German police trade in guns (including me) and there was very little "quality" information out there about them. As you found out, while they have fallen out of favor as a LE service pistol, they make a great daily carry concealed personal protection gun. The nice thing about the Combat Tactics magazine is that I could do a 10,000 word article on the P7. It is formatted to be more in depth than typical gun reviews.

Truly a nice looking P7M8. Think you'll really enjoy it.

Carried one for years. Was issued by one of our "government agencies" that favored the gun for the polygon twist barrel which was difficult to trace the bullet back to a particular gun.

Back in 1983, while stationed in Germany, I had an opportunity to purchase my own P7M8. Carried that pistol for several years. One of the most accurate 9mm's you'll every put your hands on. Older I got the heavier the P7 got. That and how expensive they have become. Retired it for a .40 Shield. The P7 is now my nightstand gun.

Recently sold a H&K P9S (Target) in 9mm with both barrels. Gun went to an experienced collector for upwards of $3,900.

Have been "thinning the herd" a bit. Have a NIB P9S in .45 (which I purchased in 1983) I'm going to be listing soon. If you're interested, drop me a PM.
