Back when I decided to begin carry a firearm for self defense, I knew I needed a good holster. Although I couldn't really afford it, I managed to purchase a Kramer belt scabbard for my 3" Model 65. I can't remember the exact year of purchase but my twins were in kindergarten or first grade and now they're college sophomores so, at least 14-15 years ago. Gun and holster are still in use. I carry 6 days a week at least for 13-14 hours a day. As you can see, the holster may not be as pretty as it was but it's still going strong. I guess my point is, sometimes it pays to spend more up front and get something that will last.

Its hard to convince people to invest the extra money and buy good leather to begin with. I've got an Alessi Talon IWB that I bought back in 97-98 that I still use fairly regularly. The mouth doesn't stay open like it used to, but the holster body still retains its form. Its been soaked in sweat many times over the years. I have one Galco that is about as old, an Ankle Glove. The velcro started wearing out, but the leather is still strong. I have seen a few Kramers and never a bad one. I am a Milt Sparks fan. I have a BN55 with mag pouch and light holder that is about six years old and still works great. I broke down and ordered more from them this past fall, and am waiting for the order to be filled. Gunleather from a company that has been around a long time will not disappoint. For someone who carries a pistol a lot, how many cheap ones will you go through in ten years, and how much will you spend?

Looks like it has served you well. I have a Lady Kramer for the wifes house gun, a 4" Power Custom Combat 686-1. I am sure I ordered it over 15 years ago. It is pretty low mileage, due to not being used a lot. My guess is other ladies have worn it at the range learning to shoot more than the wife has worn it.

Just wondering if you could touch up the finish with a little dye on a rag. Probably multiple coats until it all is the same color. The finish I use over the dye is pretty simple. Put a chunk of Toilet Ring Wax in a can like a Tuna can, and add Pure Neatsfoot Oil, quantity of oil is about half the volume of the wax. Heat with a propane torch on the side and or bottom of the can only, just until liquid and apply with a small natural hair paint brush. Then buff with a cloth. NOTE: The Wax & Oil mixture is flamable, so do this out doors in a safe location, and be careful.
You might want to experiment on the back side first, and make sure you will be happy with the results before doing the front.

The advice on quality leather is sound. I have several Bianchi holsters for 4" K Frame, and both 4" and 6-1/2" N Frame S&W revolvers that I bought new in the mid to late 1970's and Early 1980's that I am still using. Good leather will last a very long time.

I used to own a horsehide Kramer Vertical Scabbard for my Beretta 92F, as well as a #3 IWB, on the advice of Peter G. Kokalis formerly of SOF magazine. I don't think I would have worn either out in a lifetime, as I owned them back in the mid 90s. Not the most comfortable holster out there, at least the IWB, but the Vertical Scabbard was a great piece of kit. I traded it in for another holster which has been long-forgotten.

Is that signed by Jerry? Nice set up, like the bobbed hammer and the fact that you have logged so many hours with your chosen gear. Refreshing to see.
