New Jogging Buddy for coyotes encounters

Nice hunting attire! :D

"my dad once shot a coyote in his pajamas." "What was the coyote doing wearing your dads pajamas?"!!

that's a nice tail and coat on the PJ dog. He'd be on the wall. down here in the desert they run 20-30 pounds, up higher around Payson, they can interbreed with mexican grays and i got a nice 47 pound really dark one on the wall.

I love hunting what can hunt you back! guess that's what 21 years in the Army will get you! Just isn't as exciting not knowing if i'm calling at night for dogs, what that snap behind me is....Illegal Alien, Mountain Lion, Border Patrol, etc.

Many a BP agent has gotten hit with a 2000 lumen torch on the top of the Schmidt and Bender on a .300 blackout with a can! even though i leave a huge note in the window that i'm hunting, with my cell number on it, they continue to try to ninja up on my stands..i'm in a full leafy suit, in a mesquite tree, with above said rifle or others, i wouldn't try to sneak up on someone's stand at any time.

sorry, back on track....nice dogs!

I agree, but my open space parks (large and with lots of wildlife) are surrounded by houses, within a block or two, and are in the city limits. Shooting isn't a good, legal option, so chasing them off is the best I can do.

if it's close enough to bite you or anyone, to including pet, then it's a good shoot if you are in fear. I popped a chow DRT right in our subdivision when it would not get out of the way of my wife, me and 140lb fat butt labrador and there would have been a fight if i had not. cops said no issue, took dog, with collar to owner and wrote him a huge ticket. dog had wandered over 1.5 miles down the canal road to get from where the owner lived to our area, and we are in city limits.
YMMV on laws in your city/state/dictatorship

A Coyote, as stated will not bother you while out and about.
You see them and they see you, they will be headed away from you in a hurry.
While they may take small pets (cats, small dogs), they are no
threat to anyone jogging unless you happen to run across a sick
one, (rabies). Save the ammo and practice for 2 legged varmints.

I have to disagree with this. I was walking my dog the other morning and a Coyote came up between two houses. We were about 10 feet apart and it just looked at us and slowly walked away, the Coyote showed no fear. Another neighbor was walking home from a dog park down the street one evening and a Coyote followed behind them for several blocks until she arrived home. I live on a lake with an extensive wetland and see or hear the Coyotes very frequently.

I agree that a coyote should show fear of a man on foot and an absense of that isn't a good thing. A vehicle is another thing-- I've seen them stand and watch a vehicle (in motion or stopped) without worry, but then haul *** as soon as a door (or window) is opened.
I'm surprised that apparently there are some states without coyotes. They are such a versatile and adaptable critter that I would've thought they'd be everywhere in north america by now.

I got both of these from my deck and a third much larger, that I got video of but the tape is 8mm digital and the camera broken, so no pics. These were not called in, just shot once they became too brazenly "regular". I have called them in and yes, it is quite a rush to be hunted by a carnivore. CW

yeah up in WA they grow them big, they are eating good, plus the winter weather there really furs them up. being in the 70's here in the winter and the 110 yesterday, needless to say, if the dog could go naked it would.
we had a big issue with ones having mange. i got 3-4 that were almost bald, the one pic i have looks like a Chupacabra!!!!!

Higher elevation here in AZ they are bushier, but that's a hella drive for a hunt, although i have done it.

pretty cool shooting off your deck! once retired we are moving north and buying a house with 1/4 mile all the way around until the next occupied dwelling!!!!! gotta stay legal you know!
