Hi everyone...
I have a 629-5 71/2" bbl and I've shot and polished the gun so many times the "Smith and Wesson"
"44 magnum" is almost indistinguishable (as in practically invisable) on one side of the barrel and the other side
"629 Classic" is the same way on the other side.
The gun is like new in box and now I know many of you are going to say I clean it to often. Okay I've learned my lesson.
My question is can Smith and Wesson engrave it again like it was when I got it new?
Thanks for any assistance.

I cringe when they call laser etching "engraving". Yes, I know, even the factory says it..but if you want true engraving,it needs to be done with sharp steel tools. Maybe have it truly "cut" engraved? That would be interesting to see.

I asked a similar question over in Gunsmithing a couple of days ago, with no response. In my case, I would like to have the S&W logo engraved on a plain Model 10 sideplate. Hopefully someone has the inside scoop on this!!

You'll have to confirm it with Customer Service, but I think "yes", they can reapply the markings. There was a member that had something similar done last year, and it came back looking amazing.

hey, thanks for the response.
I didn't want S & W customer service laughing the entire day because someone called about over cleaning their revolver. I like this forum much better. at least the laughter is in jest!

Breakaway500 you are certainly correct about that. I would much rather have it "engraved" as opposed to a mere laser printing. But what the heck do i know, I'm just a consumer.
