I recently acquired a M&P 40 Pro. I have not dry fired the gun or fired it at all but I notice when pulling slightly on the trigger from the middle of the trigger or closer to the top near the slide it sticks slightly. Has anyone else noticed a sticky trigger when it was new? It also has some side to side slop. Don't know how much is normal. Just trying to decide if it just needs firing or a gunsmith needs to check it out. Never had one of these guns so I am completely unfamiliar with it. Any feedback is welcome. Thanks in advance and glad to now be a part of this forum.

i could be wromg but it sounds like you are not properly pulling the trigger. if you look on your trigger it should look like it is hinged at the midpoint. if you pull on the top part it will not fire kinda like a safety. pull from the bottom part of the trigger and see if that doesnt improve your trigger feel.

Yeah, it pulls fine from the bottom. I just did not think it should stick or catch if I pulled from dead center of the trigger. Really I was looking for anyone with any odd observations about the trigger of their new M&P 40s. I have an Apex DCAEK but have not installed it yet. Still have not decided if I am going to do it myself or let a 'smith do it. I also want to polish contact surfaces on the internals. Just want to have that done before I actually fire it for the first time. It appears to be a very well constructed gun. Can't wait until then.

If you follow the Apex installation videos, you should have no trouble doing this yourself. A padded vise, hammer, 1/8" roll pin punch, a suitable brass or plastic punch to drift the rear sight, and some small tweezers are essentials. Watch the videos first; they cover what tools you need and how to R&R the parts. The difference is pretty remarkable. Unless you are experienced at these gun plumbing drills, expect it to take more time than depicted. With family interruptions, phone call distractions, etc., it took me about two hours to complete the install of the DCAEK, the FRE, and new sights. YMMV.
