Hello All !

I tested about a dozen guns at the range before buying my first handgun,so I landed on the M&P40,the rental of course was broken in with thousands of rounds through it and was great for me.......My new M&P trigger is awful, its notchy and I definatly I see where its hitting inside the slide , when I strip the slide off the the gun trigger is smooth so perhaps its a clearance issue?

- I put 100 rounds though it so far and have done hundreds of dry fires and its still not as smooth as it should be.....and it for me is off target compared to the seasoned model I shot previously .....
suggestions ?

Get an Apex sear and striker block. Makes a world of difference. Easy to install also. I've done three pistols this weekend.

Ditto on this man, I put these parts in my M&P9mm and it's way much better, like a different gun..

That's correct, but get the whole kit, you will want the sear as well. everything was like $74 to my door. And worth every penny....

Dryfire a lot. If you want, you could put an empty spent round in the barrel. It only takes a slight move with the slide to reset the trigger. I dryfired my M&P40c thousands of times without anything in the barrel. I've also put over 3000 rounds of live ammo through it. It has never failed me. If it brakes, they make parts. My dryfire was for my trigger control, not the action. I cleaned up the striker with a dremel tool with felt pad and red polishing compound. It only took 3 or 4 passes with the dremel. A little of that goes a long way. Thats your gun, make it yours. Make it like you want it. Good luck with it.

I did the Apex mods - nice improvements,i left in the OEM
trigger spring as I really liked the -2 lbs improvement on the trigger...
I go to Tactical class next week, should be fun

I just slather the sear and striker mating surfaces with Gunslick and keep on shooting. (Dry or live.)

Ain't quick, but good enough for me.... Did it on my older M&P40FS, and just picked up an M&P40C that's getting the treatment even as I type....

Just IMHO, of course.

Regards,
