Just bought a new M&P .40 and was wondering if the Apex upgrade kit was worth doing. Seems to have quite the following, any negative experiences?

Congrats on the new pistol, great choice. I've done the Apex upgrade to several of my M&Ps and have only good things to say. It's easier to do yourself than it looks at first glance. I've used the DCAEK exclusively and like to keep the factory trigger spring for about a 4.0 - 4.5 pound break. A huge improvement to the factory trigger in my opinion.

I installed the APEX hard sear in mine. Prior to that I was basically staging the trigger. I could pull all the play out till it reached a point where I knew that about 7lbs or so of pressure would fire the gun. After I installed the new sear I found first off that I had a lot more play to take up. It also reduced my trigger pull by at least half. I would guess that after the play is taken up it requires about a 3 to 3.5 pound pull to fire the pistol. Honestly, at first I was not happy with it and considered taking it out. However, since relearning the trigger I find that I can fire much better groups when shooting offhand. This is with the sear only. I also bought the USB but don't know if I'll be installing it since I never really noticed the gritty feel that others have mentioned. One of the best things I did buy for my .40 was a 9mm barrel and two 9mm mags (total cost about $100) which reduced the cost of my practice ammo significantly.

Thanks for the input guys! I guess I'm going to go for it :D , as far as a 9mm barrel, I reload for 10mm already, one of the reasons I got this pistol is that I have about 5000 pieces of .40 cal brass and a bunch of 180 gr bullets and wanted an excuse to load some .40's! :D

Congrats, IMO best bang for your buck combat pistol available today. Ergo, capacity, aftermarket accessory availability, spare parts availability, customer service; price point...

Honestly after fondling the triggers on some newer M&Ps I don't think Alex kit is even necessary, but I'm sure it would be a nice upgrade... I'd try it stock first.

Well worth the investment. Did it to my full size .40 and I love it. Just ordered the kit for my Shield, and can't wait to drop it in.
Enjoy your new M&P .40

I bought an MP40 about a month ago....Love it!...You guys keep talking about that trigger mod but mine is perfect at 5.0 pounds.

I got mine from Buds Police supply and it was advertised with a 6.5 pound pull but on the scale its a perfect 5.0 from the factory.

Will be buying the same gun soon in 357 sig and 9 mm and possibly .45

Congrats on the new MP ! After a couple of hundred rounds it goes from a bit stiff to silky smooth!

As far as I am concerned, the stock trigger mechanism is fine. I would need to try one of the altered guns to see if it made a significant difference before I would invest in the change.

I have installed the Apex sear in both Shields as well as my M&P 45.Makes a great trigger system noticably better ..

Well I took her out today so I would have a frame of reference when the kit gets here. WOW....I think I'm in love! I am really not partial to Smith and Wesson autos, nor polymer pistols, but this one hit it out of the park! :D I can't wait to see what this kit does.
