I'm a dedicated 1911 shooter who recently purchased an M &P 9c for concealed carry.
I performed the DIY trigger job on the Burwell site with good results. My ability to hit plates and make smaller groups at 15 to 20 yds improved substantially with the trigger job. People who are dedicated Glock shooters at the range today were impressed and pleased with the smooth, light tripper as well as the ergos of the pistol (with full size mag+x grip and the small mag with finger extension).
I'm going to keep working at using the pistol effectively. 124 gr Bayou bullet handloads with Power Pistol, WST and AA # 5 performed good hits on steel, but occasionally could not drop the steel even with multiple hits. I'm going to try some 135 and 147 gr.
BTW --- while at the range, two of the dedicated Glock shooters (one a LEO with a Glock 24 (9mm) and the other an IDPA shooter with a Glock 22 in .40 S&W had stoppages. The LEO was using factory ammo (FTE & FTF) while the IDPA shooter had a FTE. This is the first time in the last 10 years that I have seen a Glock malfunction at the range.
I had to admit that it made my 1911 + M&P heart smile inside to have a day with various handloads feed, eject and shoot flawlessly while 2 Glocks choked.
I am happy I bought the M&P..LOTS MORE TO PRACTICE AND LEARN.
