New M&P 9MM Compact - Another Q

I'd like to know how you got one with 3 mags. Mine only came with 2. They must like you.
Thankfully, We have a range that has stayed open through all of this. I think because it's also a gun store. What has kept me away has been all the rain we've had this year.
Do as others have said, clean it, lube it, shoot it, repeat. They are very nice guns, you'll enjoy it.

In answer to your Q about three mags all I know is that's how it came in the box. I may have read somewhere LEOs can get them like this. I purchased it, NIB, from a deputy sheriff I know but never thought to ask him about the extra mag.

Old cop What ammo to use ?? Do not start with the bargain wallet friendly brands or steel cased . I tend to start off any new to me handgun with what I plain to carry but in a +P if the handguns rated for it to help soften it up ! one box of my choices to try . At least you will be sure it runs with your preferred ammo . I'm not much of a 9mm guy but since hst has been out that is preferred load followed by range t series .

I have made our own reload practice ammo since I retired and use Missouri bullets coated swc 124gr in 9mm now but in the past working years Georgia Arms ammo canned heat was good reliable practice ammo back when work did not allow reloading time and they have good HP both new starline brass or once fired for carry if you still like gold dot .

Depending on where you live you may have a smaller ammo company or two you can read up on and try that offers a high quality range ammo line . Be sure the ranges you visit don't require a frangible bullets made from compressed copper powder . Thant changes everything .

How about unmonitored smaller forestry ranges . There open near me but .
The family has shoot a lot of this 9mm below in years gone by and we have shoot a far amount of there +P HP Gold Dots but listed sold as speer bonded unicor . I shoot 40sw !

I'm sure others will have opinions of todays practice ammo .

Thanks, had not considered starting off w/self defense ammo. I'm going to contact my former department to see what they're issuing.

Don't be scared to shoot SCA. There are TOO MANY old wives tales about SCA. I think most stay away from it because they have a HUGE lump in their throat called PRIDE, and they're afraid to swallow it! Shoot as much SCA as you want. Your M&P will eat it like a kid eats candy. I know all of my M&P's shoot it without ANY hiccups.

Pls excuse my ignorance, but SCA?

I've had my 9C for about a month almost and leaving the 12 round mags fully loaded this entire time has made them insert into the gun easier.

I can see the logic in letting the gun sit with the slide locked open, if the recoil spring is going to take any initial set then it will, but it's not going to harm the spring

I've got near 1200 rounds through my 9mm 2.0 Compact, 4" barrel. I didn't do any break in other than field strip and clean it before the range trip. It hasn't bobbled even once.

My indoor range finally opened so today I put 200 + rounds of FMJ & HP through the gun. It ran flawlessly, was accurate out to 15 yards and I enjoyed shooting it a lot more than any Glock. Using the large backstrap insert it fits me like a glove, and the rough grip glued the little gun to my hand, no need to adjust my grip between shots. Smith has a real winner here.
