New M&P Shield - Looking for Night Sights and Holster

I have a shield in 40s&w and put TruGlo TFO on shortly after I completed lethal weapons training here in Pa. for carrying on the job. While qualifying several other people had them on their weapons and in low lite and no light do they stand out. I've had no trouble with my retention holster. I did have an issue with the front sight and had to send back to Smith-was shooting very high with the factory sights- practice no problem however if you had to pull it you're not thinking of that. Anyway Smith stated "any M&P sight will fit the shield" - the way it was stated I believe CORE M&P's are excluded from that statement by the way all 3 of my dots are green -- all my semi-autos have tfo's on them in the 3 green dot

Shield .40

AmeriGlo iDot night sights, and an Alien Gear holster. I had a hard time with the original sights' white dots falling out... I went through two sets. I find the most comfortable carry position for myself is at 4:00, and the alien gear is the most comfortable holster I have used yet. The others being DeSantis Sof-Tuck & Tuck-This II and a Blackhawk ITP nylon. The DeSantis and Blackhawk holsters have a single clip to hold onto the belt. I find that the single clip holsters move back and forth (the cant) a bit while drawing. With two clips holding the holster in place, it feels more secure.

The Shield is small enough to be easily concealed with an OWB holster. I am a big fan of quality leather when it comes to holsters. This one is by Wright Leather Works and I also have their belt, which is 1/4" x 1/12" solid bull-hide. This rig is so comfortable, I forget I am wearing it.

I looked at the link you posted. Those look like quality holsters at a great price. Of course the proof is in the wearing.

Can you compare the Wright IWB to the Lobo IWB I love so much?

Greetings All-

Having enjoyed my M&P Pro 9mm, I was able to get a good deal on a new M&P Shield 9mm at the gun show this past Saturday. Got to shoot it Sunday and was impressed by the darn thing.

I plan to use it as my Carry gun and BUG, so I'd like to get some good Night Sights and a holster for it. I'm sure they've been discussed in a lot of threads, but was hoping that some of you could make some even better suggestions for the holster and sights. Any help appreciated.

I have the Blade Tech IWB holster. It's made of Kydex, very light and the Shield clicks in for a secure hold. Still easy to pull out. All day comfort. It was only $33.50 on Amazon.

I ordered the Ameriglow I-Dot Pros - SW-245 green w/orange outline - Usually $90-100 pretty much anywhere - but they seem to be out of stock at a lot of places, took some digging to find a set. Should be here this week hopefully, and I can finish my Apex Install.

Tactical-Store.com - but as it turns out I got an email today saying they are BO'd 2 weeks, which is pretty much what everybody else lists for status, so I canceled the order. I really wanted to get them faster as it's holding up my Apex kit install, but am not finding any 245's. I may just get the 345 (the lime-ish one) and be done with it.

I had the trijicon HD sights installed, and couldn't be happier. As far as a holster goes, I bought a safariland "concealment" holster, but it's really bulky, it works better as an open carry holster.

Not a shield, but I know many who have used the same sights I have on the shield and they fit and work well.

This is why I suggest them.

well i wound up ordering the TFO's... couldn't find the Amerglo's I wanted anywhere that wasn't on way long back-order, so it came down to the HD's vs the TFO's. Since the TFO's were half the cost, and i figure I will probably switch to Ameriglo or Strait 8's when the are available anyway, I went with the less costlier version in the interim...

Used the Desantis Pro Stealth until the original Shield front sight worked a groove into the material and caused a drag on drawing the gun. Not what you want for CC. Switched to FoxX IWB and XS Big dot.

I'm really surprised that nobody is running XSsights big dot sights on their Shield. This type of defensive pistol is just begging for a quick acquisition sight like these. I run them on my Kahr PM9, Colt 380, and one of my Colt 1911's. Soon on my Shield.

Trijicon just started selling their HD night sights for shield. Have them on my FS and compact and love them.
