Were you on a waiting list, or just good timing. I'm also from MA and figured I'd have to wait a while to get one. Maybe the 40 will be easier to get than the 9. How much are these going for here in MA? I see fseasons are all spoken for.

I got a call to pick up my 9MM Shield tomorrow in MA. Was on a list and prepaid on tax free day last month. Paid $389 no-tax. Gonna get it...clean it...shoot it...the APEX carry Kit it if it runs ok out of the box.

Same price / just got back from shooting it no malfuntions at all, shot 50 rnds , not as accurate as my LC9 , but it was really dirty didn't clean it b4 shooting it range closes at 8pm so had to run ,trigger measured 9.10 lbs on my lyman digital meter felt like my 5lb glock, I like it.

I called FS tonight to inquire about an AR. About 3 minutes later, after I hung up, my phone started ringing and it was the FS phone number. Picked it up and they said "they were about to make my day". Picking up my Shield 9 either tomorrow or Friday. I pre-paid last month too. The stack of pre-orders when I was there was un-real so I just paid in full. Can't wait to shoot it!

I own both the LC9 and a Shield 40. The LC9 all modded out with a Galloway trigger kit, ss guiderod, low power springs, straightened trigger, trigger over travel stop, internal parts rework to eliminate stacking and smooth pull, talon grips. Shoots easy and is very accurate.
My Shield 40 has an Apex sear and blocker, Glock lower power trigger spring, trigger over travel stop, oversized grip, Talon grip. Shoots much better than the LC9 due to the much better trigger action (shorter pull, softer pull, much shorter reset). Accuracy is very good for both guns.

Got the MA Shield today. Very accurate but horrible trigger. Took it home and installed most of the APEX kit but I couldn't get the rear sight to budge so no new striker block. The trigger still is improved without the complete install but I sure would like to get that rear sight to move.
Taking it to the range tomorrow to try it out again.

What is horrrible about the trigger pull. If it is the "gritty"pull just prior to the break, check for a burr in the blocker hole (shaft). I thought just installing the Apex blocker would remove the gritty pull. WRONG. If you have a burr in the shaft, you will still have the gritty pull with the Apex blocker, until you remove the burr from the shaft.
Rear sight removal: you likely will have to heat the set screw to loosen it. They are red loctited in, which requires heat to get it to move. Once you get it loose, drive the sight off from the left side to the right side. I had the slide clamped in my vice, protected by gasket material to keep from scratching it. I had to really pound hard to get the sight to move. I used a punch wrapped with tape, and had to replace the tape a few times. It goes back on just as hard. After removing/replacing it a few times it will loosen up. Pay attention to the location of the sight before you remove it, so you can get it back to the same location where it was factory sighted.

You have some really nice videos!! Very thorough explanations, you even make me think I could even try doing some minor mods on my guns!
Very interesting find on the machining burr... I'm going to have to look at my .40, it has a bit of a gritty trigger that my other M&P's don't have.

Bob is right on with the vise and hammer!! I had to break out a larger hammer to move the rear sight. I use a brass punch and had to clean up the tip twice to move it. I use a little oil in the grooves before installing the site. I also found I had to move the slide so that the sites were in the middle of the vise grips. I think the sites hanging out off the grips allowed for too much deflection for the hammer and punch to be effective.
