I would like to start out by saying hello to all members and readers of the S&W forum. I have gained much knowledge and insight concerning S&W firearms through this site. I live approximately 15 minutes from Smith & Wesson and am also interested in how their business impacts my personal community as well as the general shooting community.

I also look forward to hearing from people with diverse interests. I am a family man, work as a school counselor and therapist, a member of the N.R.A., coach youth sports, provide music lessons (bass violin and electric bass), play many styles of music and interested in classic Smith and Wesson's.

Once again I like to say hello and glad to join.

Thanks For the Warm Welcome

I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome to the S&W forum. I'm glad to have found someplace to get good solid information from what appears to be quite knowledgeable folk. I am looking to replace some Smith&Wesson's I owned before my son attended a prep school (guns do make a good investment). I am also looking to add some beyond what I had.

Presently, I am about to pick up a 1969 model 17. The gun is in almost new condition. The bluing on those older S&W's is amazing. I am also looking at a M&P in .40 or .45. I would probably end up choosing a .40 cal. since I have almost 1000 rounds of that caliber in stock. One dilemma. I prefer a double/single action. I had Sigs and the M&P's are double action only. Any thoughts and or suggestions.

S&W Tour

Hi Engine 18,

I've never gone on a factory tour. My visits have been to the S&W range and showroom. I do need to check that out considering one of my favorite places to go is the Springfield Armory which is only 20 minutes away.
