Hello -
I was trying to find out what the heck an e-frame is - googled it and found this forum - and found my answer. So I joined and it's already been good. I didn't think an old guy like me could still fall in love but I recently did - got my first Smith and Wesson - a model 642-1. What a sweet gun! And I have to tell you this - Last Sunday afternoon I took off for the local range to shoot it the first time. I hung up a target on the 25 yard range, put on my ear muffs and loaded up. Standard Remington 158 grain. Now I know the 642 is no target gun but I wanted to get the feel for it and see how it is sighted. I popped off the first round. Felt nice! I looked down-range and couldn't see a mark on the target so I either missed it completely or it was somewhere in the black and I couldn't see it from that distance. I popped off another round and could see the mark where I hit the target on the lower left corner. Curious about that first shot, I put the gun down and walked out to see. There was my first shot - absolutely dead center bulls eye! I could not have punched a more perfect hole if I'd measured it and did it by hand. I knew I was in love. I saved that target. Put up another one and put the rest of the box of 50 through the gun. What a sweet gun. I'm looking forward to accessing this forum and learning from you guys who are obviously really into Smith and Wesson.
