Just wanted to say hi.
Proud owner of this beauty that my son gave me. Model 66, no dash '72. I'm pretty sure I'm going to make this my EDC for two reasons...well, really three. First & formost, I love this gun...how it shoots, feels, looks, etc. Second, I'm a little on the hefty side atop, but also have the noassatall disease, so OTW seems to be the way to go anyway, so why not go big? Third...& probably the most important for now, it's the only one I have.
I'll more than likely get a auto-feeder later but budget makes that a wait-for thing. For now, I'm just going to enjoy this one.
Anyone use a Fobus paddle holster? I know they're cheap but so's my budget.

Welcome aboard! Nothing wrong with carrying that, the gun you have with you is better than one at home, any day!!

I've not had any issues with Fobus holsters, but there are many, many choices out there... Good luck and welcome.

Welcome to the FORUM! Your 66 looks like a dandy! Good looking stocks also. My case is just the opposite of yours. Have given my son 2 handguns and a rifle over the years. (have sold him a few also) Enjoy your 66! I have a 67 no dash from 1973. Bob

Well....... something to be aware of and consider........

From the picture that's an early 66-nuttin...that looks to be anib ( do you have the Box docs and tools????)

... with stainless sights.... front and rear........pinned barrel and recessed cylinder........... it is "collectible" and brings a $$s premium!

The 66 was a popular police gun in the 70s....... most of the early 66s ended up in police holsters....... so not a lot still anib.......

Get a nice leather holster ( maybe a Bianchi 19BHL about $60 at "OpticsPlanet") Kydex will mark the gun.........

Hogue checkered wood grips ........ close to $100 if ordered new!!!!


All that said.... nothing wrong with carrying and shooting....... but as a "family heirloom" treat it well... Suggest +P.38 hollow points for EDC and 140 gr bullets and up (to 158gr) for when you want/need magnum power


LOL....... left/gave my Dad my custom 4" round butt 686-nuttin.......... was "his" for about a decade.......back with me with even more memories! To be passed onto my eldest some day!!!!

That beauty actually deserves beautiful leather but dollars speak louder than fancy carry gear, I get it.

I found an S&W Model 291 34 in decent condition for a 4inch K Frame in my holster box. I won't be using it in the near future. PM me your mailing address. The price is pay it FORWARD.

Very nice piece. Will make a good carry gun, although
a full size k-frame tends to pull my britches down.

Like a few others said, I believe you would be better served
to carry that fine revolver in a good leather holster.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle. Yep, excellent gun ya got there. I've got one just like it that is the former property of the Florida Highway Patrol. Its also a 1972 (2K63942). I have Fobus holsters for many of my handguns and I like them very much. I have not noticed any problems with their causing wear to the finish, but then my guns are pretty much all working guns, so I don't really look for it. Nice leather IS pretty hard to beat.

First, thanks for the complement. My son had it several years before giving it to me (girlfriend doesn't like them) & I've had it for a little over a year. He didn't have a box or papers that he gave me but he was meticulous about keeping it clean...& so am I. That's probably why it looks like a nib.
You're exactly right. It is a no dash & marketed in 1972. Stainless front & back sights & hammer. The new ones look funny with the black features.
I did see a Don Hume service holster (second) with the thumb break on ebay that I may get. What I would like to use is a good shoulder holster so it won't drag my britches down but eventually, I'll get a slider to carry & put this baby up for a house gun.
