Just got the 40c. Put 50 rounds downrange last week. Put another 50 this morning. My first impresssions are as follows: The gun fits my hand with the smaller backstrap and mag extention better than any other gun I have shot. The 3 dot sights can be aquired quickly. I would add that it is not to big and not to small. Conceals well. Solid accurate shooter right out of the case. No problems whatsoever. Felt that it recoils less than alot of 40 cals and to my mind less than some smallish 9mm's that I own/have owned. Glad to be a part of the S&W family. Proud to have bought an American made product!! This is my first Smith & Wesson and I hope the honeymoon continues. Can you diiiggg it?

Yes, congrats! I also carry the 40c. I use the 10-rd mag with the large backstrap (with the rubberized Talon grip) and it's like it was made for my hand. I love it!

Same here my 40c is my EDC I use the flush mag For me i can get two fingers positvely on the weapon rather than almost three with the extended mag. But thats me I carry a spare 15 rng mag with the xgrip sleeve. I have the shield and carried that for a while but there is not that much difference in the two guns size wise. Just my opinion
the 40c is a great gun you did well
goos luck

I just recently came back to the 40c myself. Reliable, accurate, good ergonomics, manageable recoil; what's not to like?

Ya like i said earlier, I have the shield which is nice. But in NO way comapres to my 40c, I want to like and carry the shield but every time i do i wish i had my 40c. In fact I am taking both to the range tonight and give the shield another shot. For me its about mag capacity the shield max is 8 rounds the max on the 40c is 16. I know as a CCW holder the chance of even firing more than 2 rounds is unlikely. But it sure is a comforting feeling knowing you have 10 + rounds. and I usually carry the 15 round mag as a back up. So for me its a paranoid/prepared issue. And the Shield is really not that much smaller than the 40c, In fact i think the grip of the shield is slightly longer than the 40c. again these are my preferences in a carry piece. The 40c with Win 165 grain SXT and a spare mag is a hard combo to beat, Size Power and capacity in a small package
thanks

Thanks for the warm welcome! Now at 350 rounds and this 40c trigger has gotten better. Do love the recoil as it is not as harsh as one would expect for such a small gun. I have owned enough guns and this felt right from the minute I picked it up and I hope it proves dependable over time!

Boston huh? Been there 3 times in the last 12 months. Love it! Traffic heavy so I took the T as often as I could. Chowda worth the trip from Ohio!

As of today range count at 450 on my 40c. No problems! I cannot think of ANY gun I have shot that just feels so good ergonomically yet shoots so accurate. Love it! Fun fun fun! The recoil is sooo managable! Great purchase so far.

If you look closely my avatar is my M&P40 Compact which at the time of the avatar was my daily carry and then later I got a Shield 40 and carried it for about two weeks, it is now a back up and the 40C is back to EDC.

I am just so used to my 40c and it handles better than my 40 Fullsize or 45's both full size or even my Fullsize 9 which I love for the cheapness of the rounds!
