Some folks are incredibly neat. I make no such claim for myself. I use Bore Stores, Sack-ups, gun rugs, leather and otherwise, and some handguns sit in original boxes, as you can see. Long arms are stored in Sack-Ups or left bare. I long ago discovered that the use of the original boxes took up too much room so I stored them separately.
Then, after a fire in 2018, I no longer had those original boxes but my guns were saved by the safe I had at the time:
As you can see, I mostly used soft gun rugs in that safe, but they worked fine. After the fire they were too soiled by water, smoke, and foam for future use, so I switched then to mostly Bore Stores and Sack-Ups.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
