Went and got the Sunday paper, as usual. Looking through the Wal-Mart ad, they are advertising ammunition and what caught my eye was Federal ALUMINUM 9mm 115 gr. ammo, box/50 $9.98. Is Federal now competing with CCI/Blazer? Really like the price and as soon as I can get to the local WM, will see if in stock.

Any others know about this?

Should work out. I used to shoot a lot of the Blazer aluminum as I did not reload the 9mm at the time. I hope this doesn't catch on as I now reload the 9mm and there goes my free brass at the range!

Hmm... If they do get into the Aluminum Cased business, my local range won't allow it. They resell all their brass to 'Reman' companies and they don't want to have to take the time to sort the brass from the Steel/Aluminum.

In other words, the range staff would rather hang out indoors & BS than do a little work. I'd find a different range and tell them why I was leaving.

Well just back from WM. None of the alum. Federal on the shelf, and I didn't see a spot/area marked for it. Clerk said it must have sold out early today. That, or they just didn't get any. This time last year, they advertised Ruger Mini 14 rifles for $697-didn't have any and hadn't had any for over a year! So, who knows...

I wonder if this is just CCI Blazer since Federal Champion is just repackaged Blazer Brass.

Are you allowed to pick up the brass that you shot? (obviously nobody will pick up aluminum) The club I go to keeps me supplied ok in everything but .38 Special. Many people leave brass lay. Of course I pick up everything except .380. Bob

I saw this at Walmart this morning. I was shocked that they had 9mm for 20 cents a round.. Then I noticed it was aluminum and figured that was the price difference.

They also had 225 packs of Remington Golden in this morning for $11.17

I left both in the case. I have enough .22 for now, and I wasn't sure if my range allowed aluminum cases.. But it was a nice sight to see. :)

$9.98 a box--I happened to look at my receipt for the first handgun I bought (22 years ago) $449 for a Springfield P9C and $9.95 for a box of Blazer aluminum 9mm. Everyone likes to complain about the cost of ammo, but how much was gas 22 years ago? And the $449 isn't too much different from the price of a decent name brand semi-auto these days.

Stopped in at WW and they had about 15 boxes of the Fed aluminum. Still not sure if my range allows it. I shoot at 2, and I know the one allows steel but not aluminum. The other one doesn't allow steel in the bullets, but I don't think they say anything about cases. I have too much 9mm already. Would like to see they same thing in 45 ACP at $15.99 or so.

I was going to say there is no competition since they are owned by the same company but it's been said several times already above...

Federal aluminum case 9mm ammo

I noticed walmart is selling federal aluminum case 9mm in 50 round boxes for a little under $10, it was the cheapest 9mm they had on the shelf, even about $1 less than the steel case Russian made ammo. I was just curious if anybody here has tried it yet.
