Been researching 1-4, 1-6 powered scopes and decided on the Vortex Crossfire II 1-4x24. It's right in my price range at $200 and it has tons of good reviews. The medium height rings I bought with it were definitely not cutting it, though. I had a couple of spare riser mounts that got it up to a good height. Looking forward to zeroing it at my next range day

Omg and why do my pics keep posting upside down?!?!?!

I have upside down photo issues too. The way I've cured it is to edit the photo on my phone (iPhone) even if it displays right side up initially. Seems this locks in some sort of rotation coding to the photo. Hope it helps.

Congrats on the scope.

It's because you're using your phone and holding it parallel to the ground. You may even be tipping the phone a little away from you. The camera is trying to orient the picture for you, but it's not sure which way is down because you're holding it flat.

Try standing the gun up against a wall and then take the pic.

But for now, here...

One more thing....

Your scope is mounted too far back. Mounting it this way makes it difficult to access the charging handle. Also, it will force you to extend the stock too far out. Better to be close in as possible.

Look for a mount like this:

Yeah I've been reading about different reasons why my pics are misbehaving. Hopefully I can correct that

So, I bought rings with the scope, buy they're way too low. I found some mounts in my parts pile, which is what's in the pic. They're just temporary. I don't like the way the scope sits, either.

On one of my rifles, I have the LaRue LT-104 QD Scope mount and it works perfectly. The correct height and position for my scope. A little pricy, but is in my opinion one of the most substantial mounts out there. On my other AR's I have red dots for quick target acquisition.

A cantilevered mount is what you want. Proper eye relief will make your rifle easier and more comfortable to shoot.

The LT-104 QD is great, but he LT-204 is better in my opinion. The 204 is virtually the same mount only $70 cheaper. At a $140 LT-204 is an amazing mount and it is rock solid return to zero quick detach.

I've used the Burrs P.E.P.R. too. Great mount, but I don't have the QD version. If you can swing it QD is the way to go!

Nice! I'm learning the LPVO game with a $60-some Center Point 1-4x on a TruGlo riser. Super-cheap, I know, but it has good reviews and lets me get familiar with optics at a low cost.

That's an excellent entry level optic. Vortex really makes good stuff at an affordable price point. My better half just picked up the Razor 1-6 for hers. Seriously awesome piece of glass.

That pound or so on top significantly affects my rifle's handling. It makes me favor a simple red dot.

That's exactly why I run QD mounts on everything. Swap out your optics (or other accessories) depending on what you're doing. Easy peasy. :D
Currently running a LaRue QD mount on the Aim Point red dot and American Defense mount on the 1-6x24 scope.

Thoughts on UTGs 3-9x32 bugbuster scope?

Here's my thought....don't waste your money on anything UTG, especially optics. Others may have a different opinion, but, UTG (and the like) are Chicom garbage.

For $58 , I'll try it. It may be fine for what I'm using it for. Thanks for the input. Stay safe out there.
