Just bought an M&P .40 Fullsize.... SKU 309300. Got a good deal (398 from local dealer), and snatched it up. Looking for which way to go on the improvements.... Should it be the APEX parts for trigger pull improvement, or should I take it to the S&W performance center when I move to CT this month and have them modify it in house? Will either void the manufacturers warranty, and anything else I should be doing in conjunction? Only other thing I'm planning is a Streamlight TLR-2s.

Welcome to the forum! Was that gun new? If so, that's a great price.

I don't know about the Apex parts, but any work you have done by S&W shouldn't void the warranty. I would, however, ask them to be sure beforehand.

I would suggest you shoot your new gun, a lot...and dry fire it a lot, as well...and see how the trigger smooths out. A lot of people like the Apex trigger mods, but I've never found them necessary. (That's just me, of course.)

Anyway, enjoy your pistol....it's a good one.

I got it under the Military and Police program.... Brand new. Planning on shooting as much as I can. Anything that fires better than an M9 is an improvement!

Like Gkc sages...shoot it. You will have to get used to any new gun. If after shooting it for a while you find need for mods then go for it. Any new gun needs to be broken in. Either for the gun or thr shooter.

Another +1 for taking it out and putting it through her paces. I have 4 M&P autos, 1 9 Pro and 3 of the standard models, and I honestly like the M&P triggers as they are. With the type of shooting that I do, I honestly don't notice the triggers at all. Just concentrating on the front post is distraction enough for me :D

You could just try the Apex hard sear, I think it would make a big difference all by itself, but I don't have personal experience with it. Or you might try the Burwell technique, and if you booger it up, then the Apex sear.

I did the Burwell on two guns this past weekend, and got respectable results, only working with the sear. On the first gun, which has about 3,000 rounds through it, it really lightened the pull and took out the over travel, resulting in a less front sight movement. On the second gun I was not able to lighten the trigger as much, but I got out most of the over travel. The second gun only has about 300 rounds through it, so I am pretty happy with the results, since I have really affected the sight upset, so hopefully it will help my shooting.
