That's normal for a standard weight barrel.

I have a 4" barrel on a model 33 that has the same style of rib. This style changes once you get to the heavier barrels like those placed on current production pieces.

Don't forget, you need to add in the money the guy owed him.

Ive looked up some notes regarding my new pistol...and I originally thought it was a Model 37..but from what Ive found..says its a Model 36 but with a 3" Barrel..??..anyway..the top of the barrel and frame being Flat Black and also Flat is very interesting..something curious is that the Barrel Blue doesnt quite match the Frame Blue.?..almost like a heavier barrel was put on.??..and the grips were smaller than my model 36..I thought they would be the same size....I found an Original set of S&W larger wooden grips and installed them...of course it makes for a bit larger carry..but its 100% more comfortable....how do I post photos anyway.?..I appreciate all the opinions and help...its appreciated.....my friend originally owed me $150.00..but I gave him an extra $50.00...so got $200.00 total in it...Im very happy with the purchase.. I really appreciate this forum and all the help....Thanks again....Hans

Thanks for the info on the photos...I will take a look and see if I cant post a couple...///..not to belabor the issue of the two pistols..my 2" Barrel Model 36 and the newer 3" barrel model that I purchased today..However I compared the barrel thickness at the end...and the 3" seems to have almost what I would think as a Heavy Duty barrel as its quite thicker..almost twice the thickness...is this normal.?

The full length ejector rod is worth it alone on a J frame. The 3 inch barrel really gives you more bang for your buch out of the tube.

$200????? I just paid $600 for a Model 60 - 3 inch. You should keep this one for sure.
