There are several reports that the killer in NYC yesterday used a M-4 for the killing. It was identified as such by the police Commissioner. Am I mistaken in thinking that is a select-fire rifle that is not available to We The People?
Most people in the press and many in government agencies do not know the difference between an AR15, an M16, an M4, or an AK47.There are several reports that the killer in NYC yesterday used a M-4 for the killing. In all fairness, there really isn’t a difference unless one considers the fire-control group. The function is identical, the dimensions and manual of arms and ergonomics are identical…its the same as nit-picking the Beretta 92 vs M9 or M1911 vs Colt Government or M1873 Cold Single-Action Army vs Peacemaker. Most people in the press and many in government agencies do not know the difference between an AR15, an M16, an M4, or an AK47.

I know I don't. Those are not my firearms of choice. I'm a revolver guy and always will be. The only "military" rifles I know are the M1-Carbine, M-1 Garand and the M14. All the rest hold no interest for me. I'm probably in the minority in that opinion. Don't care. I've nothing against them or their owners, just not my thing. Most people in the press and many in government agencies do not know the difference between an AR15, an M16, an M4, or an AK47.
It was a AR15 pistol, appears to be a 10.5" barrel and a SB pistol brace.I saw a close up photo of it; it is a Palmetto State AR-15 (an M4 clone). I think it was semi-auto only, but you never know these days. It did not appear to have a binary trigger.
