NEW Python: First Impressions (Has Issues)

It's encouraging to see Colt offering so many barrel lengths for the new Python. While I seldom see revolver shooters at the private gun club I belong to, there must still be a sizeable number of those who enjoy shooting high quality revolvers.

Competition is good for the breed. With Colt making revolvers again it forces others to step up and provide alternatives at all price points.

While some will always be brand loyal...no problem with that...gun companies have to earn the sales to new generations of gun purchasers. They can't rest on name recognition and advertising hype...they have to produce results.

I own numerous new and older generation Pythons...only one has ever required service and that was after sending many rounds downrange. I think the new generation is overall the best Python made.

It seems that most owners of the new Pythons are happy with them and that's great. I have a lot of experience with the older models, and have a great affinity for them. I have only held one of the newer ones. There are lots of opinions on the guns, and here's mine: Shoot what you like, and like what you shoot.

My lust for a Python was satisfied many years ago when I purchased this one new in the box. I am fully satisfied with it and feel no need to buy one of the new ones. This is the real McCoy - a classic with a well-deserved reputation for excellence.
