As the title says I'm a new revolver owner. I've shot many of them but have only owned 3 including these two. The other was a stainless Taurus 44 spl snubby that I no longer own.

I'm looking for a good front sight and grips for both of the model 69's I recently purchased. I would prefer fiber optic for the front sight if such a thing exists. For the grips I'm looking for something that will will be just as grippy or more so than the stock grips and fill my large size hands better than the stock grips. Either made of a recoil absorbing material or be wide enough to distribute the recoil over a larger area of the hand. Any help for this newby is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

At 37 ounces there isn't a lot you can do to "tame" the vicious recoil of full-power .44 Magnum loads, but the Pachmayr Diamond Pro round butt is as good as you're likely to find. The grip places a bit of cushion between the frame and hand, looks decent, and doesn't cost a fortune.

I have those guns also. Pachmayr Diamond pro is my choice for heavy stuff. I also have XL hands. I use the factory grips for anything short of full power though. I like them. My guns are both great shooters and very accurate. Enjoy them.

I have a 3" Jovino Terminator in 44 mag and I'll add another vote for the Diamond Pro grips. I've tried several and they are the best of the lot for recoil reduction on a light magnum revolver.

Thank you all for the replies! Looks like I'll be picking up atleast one set up Pachmayr diamond pro grips to try. I haven't decided on a front sight yet but another possibility I'm considering is a Dawson Precision fiber optic.

I may be mistaken, (and I usually am) but I believe the X-frame Hogues will fit an L frame, and they do a pretty good job taking those beasts.

Edit: I was correct for a change. The X-frame hogue grips will fit your 69.

I stole this pic off Google.

The Hogue rubber Monogrips are a good start for a recoil absorbing grip. Not my favorite but good quality and cheap enough (around $20 on the internet) to be worth trying. If you don't like them, you can sell them for 75% of what you paid, and count the change as experience.

Thanks ctxcummins! I know for sure that I like the X frame grips so I'm going to try them on the 4.25" model 69.

shoot 44spl and save the magnums for zeroing, giggles and defense purposes.

Close to getting a 3" myself.

I don't shoot magnum loads in my 2.75" M69. I top out at the classic Skeeter Skelton .44 Special load of 7.5 gr Unique under a 240 gr Keith. I actually find mine more pleasant to shoot and control with with a pair of Jarawaun target grips than the factory grips. Looks prettier, too!

I have the X frame grip on my 4.25" M69. It fits and works well even with max published loads for various reloading manuals.

I sent mine to them for a tune up and wow is it smooth in DA shooting strings of 180gr not quite magnums.

Groo here
For the 2 3/4in look at the Pachmayr compact grips.
They are shorter but thicker.......
