Mentioned a while back I was considering a new motorcycle and want to report I bit the bullet and made a decision. Thought long and hard, considered an array of bikes from BMW, to Ducati, to Indian, to Triumph.

Drove a 2018 Harley-Davidson Softail Low Rider and the decision was made. It is perfect for my riding tastes/style...and the 2018 Softail lineup is all new from the frame to the suspension to the Milwaukee 8 107 c.i.d motor. (That's 1753 cc's.)

Bike has immense torque and low end power. Handling is terrific.

As the bike is essentially all new, accessories are not yet readily available. Engine guards and LED 'driving lights' and turn signals are on the way from H-D. Saddlebags are ordered from Italy. That said, weather here was perfect yesterday so I picked it up and will return it to the dealer once the H-D parts arrive. Very, very happy I did.

Here is a photo... More to come once it is properly outfitted.

Be safe.

Updated with pix!

Bike is all I expected and more. Prodigious power and, especially, torque. Smoothest Harley I have ever ridden. Terrific handling.

A little(?) gearbox glitch to be resolved; sometimes hangs in neutral on the upshift from first.

Post-production add-ons are the lay down plate holder, saddlebags, engine guards, LED's in front, and fork bag. Unsure if fork bag will remain as is.

Digging it a lot!

Be safe

Nice,,,Very nice!
Happy and safe rides.....

Harley never gets far from it's "heritage"; and that, (obvious ), Softtail looks almost 100% like the 60's early 70's Low Riders.

Their model look, that I knew closely for many years has now expanded so greatly I've lost my way in I Ding each and every bike, but I sure like your choice.

You deal in Maryland or drop down into Virginia ?

Really nice!! And you got it in the second best color out there too, good on ya!

Fork bags are best when holding stuff you really want to keep handy, but avoid using it for tools. Too heavy, and unless you pad them well, jangly.
Guess how I know. :D

Never owned a motorcycle? Get started now?

I picked up the kids dirtbike and he say you ride it dad. On the third time the front wheel came up. That's it a week later I had one.

A motorcycle means freedom.

Absolutely gorgeous. You've now discovered the second most expensive hobby, next to S&W collecting. Don't ask how I know:(. Good shootin' (and safe riding),
Doug

I hope your packin when your riding.

I was gassing up one night at 9pm to go riding. A car filled with guys that had too much to drink pulled up to the pump next to me and the passenger said he was going to slap me and take my bike. I had the 44 mg Redhawk shoulder holstered. I just smiled.

I borrowed $20k from my 401 k and was going to get a Harley. But I ended up with a new suzuki 1200 bandit, a new Polaris 400L quad, and a new Husqvarna 250wr street legal dirtbike. Three rides vs one. I paid myself back the loan with interest.
