Took my new Black Friday special Ruger PC9 to the range yesterday. Put 200 rounds through it , three boxes of cheap factory 124 gr and a box of Federal 147 gr. Not even a hiccup. Was a ball to shoot, I'm really impressed with it. Mild recoil, smooth trigger, easy to handle, and plenty accurate. Would make a great rifle for a new shooter looking for something with a little more oomph than a .22.
Seemed to like the 124 gr a little better. I've never really considered loading for 9mm, but this rifle has me looking into it to try and work up some loads. Have a few mags on order along with a Tandemkross comp, now looking at a red dot for it.
I set up at 25 yards to see where the sights were, pic is of the first 5 rounds out of the box, never touched the sights. Only ran it out to 50, it was cold and I didn't feel like packing up and moving over to the 100 yd range. I'll save that for next time.

It’s such a great rifle for the money.

Nearly identical to a Ruger 10/22.

I’m considering it....

Thanks for the range report.

Any plan to use an optic or reflex sight?

I missed out on that Black Friday deal. I saw them for $400 but didn't pull the trigger. Regret is a terrible thing. Yours seems to be a real nice shooter!! Congrats on a great deal on a solid rifle.

When you are picking up magazines for your PC Carbine, take a look at the shorty Glock 26 mags. 10 rounds, short enough to leave one in your carbine so you will always have one. Also good for field and range use, not nearly as long as Glock 17 magazines....

And, for higher capacity magazines, I've found the Magpul 21's are a good compromise on size versus firepower compared to the Glock 33 magazines. A lot cheaper too, about $20 compared to $40 or more for the Glock 33 mags.

It popped in my email from gungrabber or gun deals.com but there was a vendor selling them for $399 online.

Good luck with the Ruger. Yours seems to shoot reliably, so far. I really love carbines, I have a bolt CZ527 and a Marlin camp 9, love them both. I really wanted the Ruger. However from my experience seeing only 3 at the range in 2 years, and all 3 of them jammed, repetitively. If the issue is now fixed then I will eventually get one down the road.

If you saw Ruger Carbines jam 2 years ago, you are talking of an entirely different rifle. The Ruger PCC just came out in 2018. Four of us local shooters are running these in steel, IDPA and IPSC matches with no problems at all. I prefer Glock magazines and partcularly like the 31 rounders(mine actually hold 33 rounds). Magpul mags for Glocks also run perfectly. We use ammo from 115gr. to 147gr interchangeably. I'm currently running my handloaded Hornady 124gr HAP bullets loaded fairly warm. The gun is built like a tank and is pretty heavy so recoil is a non-issue. WARNING: one of our guys was trying to use his very mild handloads which wouldn't run the gun. He finally accepted that his ammo was the problem and added some powder. Gun now runs fine.

We all paid $499 plus tax about 6 months ago. They are selling so well the price seems to be coming down.

What load are you using with the 124 gr Hornady’s? I was going to pick up a box or two of the Winchester NATO 124 gr which is suppose to be closer to a +P load to try also.

I bought a case of the Winch. 124gr NATO ammo and it runs very well. I don't have the powder charge handy on the 124gr HAPs but I used Vihtavouri N330 about 5.0grains. I like the Viht because its very clean. I'm using the HAP bullets to get rid of them because they have a tendency to jam in the rifling with some 9mm pistols or rifles. They will jam in the Ruger PCC and XDm pistols unless the bullet is seated deep enough which then reduces powder capacity.

I got one last year for $479. I love it. Only shot it twice since then, but with my 124 grain reloads, it was flawless. Gotta get more familiar with field stripping it so I can do it without thought like my other guns. I had been looking for a Kel-tec SUB2000 but I much prefer the Ruger. I hope one day they introduce an M&P mag adapter. Mine is set up for Glock mags now but I don't own a Glock. But their mags are everywhere so I bought 4 33 rounders, a couple of 15 rounders, and a couple of 26 rounders.
