Bought a new Ruger Security 9 a few days ago and also picked up 3 add'l. mags and DeSantis Speed Scabbard holster. Before going to the range yesterday morning, took the pistol down for quick clean/lube. First thing I noticed was how "hefty" the slide felt. Pretty robust for a 9mm pistol (in my mind anyway). Well machined and looked good inside & out. The frame seemed lite by comparison.

Took 100 rounds of REM-UMC 115 gr. ammo to the indoor range. The gun felt very natural in hand and shot very well with no issues at all. All my other handguns have 3 dot sights, so the rear white outline frame and single dot front took a few shots to get used to. Trigger, being Glock style, will also take some getting used to. Seemed to hurt the pad of my index finger after 3 mags, so I used a shooting glove to finish.

All in all, very happy with the pistol and the function/accuracy.
If anything comes up as I shoot it more, will let you all know. Just my Sunday morning here at the Forum :D

Did you get the one with the 15-round capacity?

Ruger makes an excellent product, and some of there earlier pistols are now considered classics and collectors items.

Hopefully, you'll be pleased with your new gun.

Yes, 15 round mags. I've owned several Ruger products over the years and they've all been great shooters. My only 1911 is a FS SR1911 and it is a tack driver! Next on my list is a Ruger American, may have to get both the 9 and 45 LOL :D

Bought mine a few months ago, about 750 rounds down the tube with a wide array including +P ammo. Typical of a Ruger no problems with fairly good accuracy.

Sounds like a modern version of the old Ruger 95. I have a 95DC I picked up for a song and it also has a hefty slide but is remarkably easy to rack. One difference is that the 95 has a hugely overbuilt polymer frame.

Took the Security 9 back to the range yesterday. my wife and I put 150 rounds through it with no issues at all. 100 rounds REM-UMC 115 gr. and Remington LE Training ammo 115 gr. Getting used to the sights and the trigger :-)
