Six Inch Security Six…

I bought a service six a number of years back. It looked virtually new in the box. The internals were gummed up and its operability was questionable. The individual who inherited it, wanted nothing to do with it, so I bought it for value of parts at the time. Well to my pleasant surprise after a disassembly and cleaning it worked like a new gun. I was impressed with it enough to give it to my daughter, when she asked for it. She had choice of any of a number of items and picked it. Based on the way she shot it great choice.

I did see the 14-3s were sent out in DAO, (some, not all), I really don't need another .38 Spl, but I'm happy with the Ruger. I'm excited to get this Sec. Six. for $500. I'm aging, but I'm not going to pass up a great revolver. My grandson will be shooting one of his future handguns this week...weather should be good.

I have a Speed Six, and a blued 4" and 6". Plus the GP100 in 327 Fed Magnum. And the SP101, which I really enjoy shooting. Being a sissy, I use.38 spl instead of 357. But I may weld a crow bar on one of the guns.
Put Pachmayr grips on your SP101 and you can shoot 357 magnums all day long. Ruger's factory grips are a killer because they allow the trigger guard to impinge upon your middle finger, causing great pain.

Elder Shooter, my middle finger has taken a beating, mainly 357 magnum and up. I went through about three sets of stocks on the 629-6 until I found a set that kept my special finger from literally being crushed! Amazing how much difference between 44 magnum and 44 special there is. I have maybe 3 sets of Hogue and Pachmayr Goodyears that softened the slamming on my palm but did nothing for my finger. I ended up with some wooden ones, I think Hogues. I was pleasantly surprised they were the most comfortable shooting stocks I've tried on the hand canon. I've tried some padded work gloves with the fingers cut off and that helped my palm some, but I can still use my middle finger for what it was made for. After a few cylinders of magnums it's still time to throw in the 44 specials. The Ruger six series are fine with the 357 magnums. The 4" Security Six is great to shoot; it just fits my hand so nice. I'll try to put a picture of the 629-6 with the wood. I think they're Hogues . I appreciate the input from yinz all!
