New S&W 638 Airweight?

Just bought 638 airweight bodyguard, I did net search and read it has painted/clearcoat anyone know if it is??. And how would you clean take care of gun. And what holster would be best for the coating leather or cordura/nylon. Thanks for Help.

I've been carrying my 638 for 8 years now. Put it in your pocket and forget it. The clear coat is going to flake off and look terrible, but it will be absolutely BEAUTIFUL if you ever need it. My 638 had lost significant clear coat within a year of purchase, Has not hurt it one bit as far as lethality. I would recommend either an inside the waist band with a hard plastic body and tension adjusting screws or a simple front pocket holster in some type of swede leather.

My 642 lives in my right front pocket in a DeSantis Nemisis holster (nylon). I use wax called Renaissance (expensive at Midway) to wax cylinder and other holster contact points, front edge of barrel, top strap, front of trigger guard, etc. It also wears a CT Laser. I don't take pride in beating up my toys. Best.
