I was wondering if anybody has any experience with the new S&W performance center 1911, model number 170343 or 170344. I have never fired a s&w 1911 only revolvers and was interested how there quality and accuracy is. Also in searching for this gun I have noticed that the serial numbers start ucu or uct why would this be?

I purchased the Performance Center SR 1911 .45 with the ported slide. I haven't fired it, but the feel and the trigger are phenomenal . Smooth as a baby's butt. They are fairly scarce now. I am getting a lot of compliments on it and the article in Hand Guns is great. Its very smooth and tight. Its really also a standout from a looks viewpoint., I bought 2 Wilson Combat mags for it, and am currently getting a holster. Will let you all know after I take it to the range. I had been looking at Wilsons, but this Smith is a winner and substantially less than a Wilson.

Please let me know what holster you pick out. Thank you
I had one made by Betz Gun Leather, Gary Betz. I had Gary make one for my 642 Power Port and its super quality and great looking. Very reasonably priced. You can look him up on Google, but if you want his email let me know. I also got a couple 8 rd Wilson Combat mags for it.

Performance Center PC1911 Returned

Hi, just returned it to S&W for repair of problems inserting magazines & lockups. I just bought the gun 3 weeks ago, I already replaced the thick grips with slim wood ones and the front sight with a fiber optic. The gun shoots great, as good as my Les Baer. This is my first 1911 that had problems. It has caused me to wonder about the quality of the Performance Center. This shouldn't happen to a hand fitted custom made gun.

I have a Smith target model stainless 1911. It is super satisfactory.
Shoots great and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for
an outstanding .45 caliber 1911.
