A recent thread about scales had me wanting to upgrade from a older RCBS digital scales maybe 10 years old and think I paid around a 100 bucks for it. The RCBS worked but had a couple gripes about it with main one being the 9v. had to be replaced fairly often with 10 batteries over the past year. Does not have a AC jack and battery only. Then it sorta went out of calibration and not lock on zero as it should. However it would work briefly and accurately but not quite right. After searching for a new scale, I ended up with a German made model with lifetime warranty from Brain Enos store. It's much larger than the RCBS but seems a lot more solid. I think I'll like. Glad to have the Lyman check weights to verify this and the other scales.

P.S. correction on warranty is only for 30 years.

Nice scale. I was having a problem with my digital scale, Winstead Peters. It wouldn't hold an accurate reading or maybe I should say a consistent reading. I was working in the garage with the doors open. It is amazing what very little breeze it takes to make the scale fluctuate. Took in the house and it worked like a champ.
Looks like your new one has a nice plastic cover on 3 sides and the top. Breeze won't effect your readings.

actually the box is four sided with a top and front glass slides out as well as the top slide. kinda looks like parts from a CD jewel box. I too work in a garage with overhead door open and or fan blowing.

Just a little looking around and I've saved hundreds.

I would not trust a $35 dig scale, making it $9 isn't giving it higher marks. The powder scale is THE most important part of your reloading gear. Don;t go cheap, that will cost you big time at some point when you get an over charge because the scale failed. IMO, there are no good cheap dig scales for reloading.

I concur. I have a $25 digital scale that I no longer trust (it's in the front left of the photo below). On the other hand, the RCBS scale that is part of my RCBS ChargeMaster unit has been super for several years now.

Air currents affect all scales, digital and balance beam. I have a gun room/office in our condo and stop all powder charging when the forced air heat or central A/C turn on. Handling powder with any opening to the outside or anything else that causes air movement present is asking for inaccuracies that can be dangerous.

While I have a small digital scale, I don't trust it for precise measurements. I use a RCBS 10-10. The digital only gets used for random checking of shotgun loads. I found the digital too inconsistent, and it turned itself off within 30 sec. if not used. Had to reset Tare wt. for pan etc. every time.

One thing you need to check on any scale is how level it is. This will affect it's zero.

Agree 100%. I think one of the reasons many dig don't work well is people move them around. My Dillon sits on a level shelf above my bench plugged in, I never move it. Until someone can prove to me that a sub $100 dig scale is 100% reliable/accurate, I'll stick to my Dillon.
