new sd9ve cocking problems

Hi All - I have a wierd problem with my new sd9ve.The gun cocks fine when I rack it by hand, but fails to cock after a round has been fired. Spent casing ejects file, new cartridge load fine. but gun is not cocked. If I the rack the slide again and eject the round in the tube it fires.???? All help is appreciated

If you are limp wristing when you shoot, this gun will not eject the spent cartridge. Make sure your grip is good and firm.
Some have stated that aluminum or steel cartridges give them problems.

Is the slide lubed and moves freely? [Check it's movement with the recoil spring temporarily removed.]

Is the recoil spring properly aligned when you put the slide back on?

When you pull the trigger with the slide off, does the sear move freely?

With the slide off, pull the striker with your finger and verify it moves freely, taking into account the spring force.

Try putting a little grease on the cam "bump" in the slide. It interacts with the rear* prong on the trigger bar.

Keep us updated...I'm looking heavily into an SD9VE and would like to hear what you find out...

I know this sounds stupid...but you are letting the trigger all the way out to reset after the first shot right? If not, you are doing what is called short-stroking the trigger...probably not, but just something to check.

Also, try hand racking the slide (WHILE THE GUN IS EMPTY!), pull the trigger, but hold the trigger back, and hand rack the slide, then let the trigger reset and see if it recocks the gun when not actually live firing a bullet. If it still doesn't recock, then I would think there was an issue with the trigger reset on it?

Are you sure the slide is going all the way forward after firing a round? If it doesn't it will act like it isn't cocked. Try pushing the slide forward instead of racking it again to make sure.

Interesting observation. The first time out with my SD9 I decided to try some "rapid fire" and it seemed to not fire sometimes. The truth is that I wasn't letting the trigger reset.
