I have a 2.0 9mm full size, and just this week picked up a Shield 2.0 9mm. I love the full size, which is why when I decided to EDC I went with the shield.

My questions are with inserting the mag on the shield. It has a really hard time getting past the mag release button. I can get it to go by with some wiggling and finagling, or by pushing in the button. Also the last 1/4 of an inch in is tough, I have to bang it home. This is true with both size mags. My full size is smooth the whole way home. Is this normal with the shield? Will it get better with use?

Also anybody know why the half moon space where the back strap tool is on the full size, is just wide open? With the 7 round mag in, it seems like that would be a giant dust or worst collector? With the 8 round mag in it is at least covered. Not sure I understand that design feature. Anybody modify this or ??? Thanks

If you insert a full mag with the slide locked open on the shield, it goes right in. Particularly with small mags, loading on a closed slide with a full mag is tough because you have to compress another 1/2 cartridge against the bottom of the slide.
In IDPA BUG we are only allowed 6 cartridges, and the mag loads fine.

My Shield mag release button had rust develop on it's side, where the coating rubbed off against it's grip hole. This caused it to almost seize. You might want to remove, inspect, and lube the button and it's hole with grease.

The springs are stiff on the Shield, but will ease up after some use. If your going to use the Shield with a full +1 load of ammo, your going to have to push that mag.
