I disassemble the magazines and start clipping coils.

I tried clipping coils, and trimming the follower. It didn't solve the "number of rounds in the mag" issues. It simply produced a non-functional magazine.
As noted, some (stock) magazines will hold the prescribed number of rounds, some will not. It's not clear what makes a difference.

I’m a brand new member so I thank everyone, in advance, for their help.
I have a brand new BG 2.0. It has already spent 8 weeks in Springfield taking care of issues.
Now that it works, I have a question. When the mags are loaded with 10 rounds ( I live in one of those states), I can’t insert the mag unless the slide is locked back. Is that normal? Any other pistol I own can be loaded with a full mag whether the slide is open or closed.

Here’s a link to the shield plus magazine fix, don’t know if it applies to the BG 2.0. Video gets to the point around 2:20. Might just be too many spring coils for the short magazine, as suggested before. I don’t know if S&W manufacturers the mags or if they’re sourced out.

Got my BG2 for Christmas. About 400 rounds now and it's been 100% reliable... but I still cannot load either mag (10 and 12 round) without a loader and cannot get a loaded mag to seat with the slide forward. "slap the crap out of it" would required a small dead blow hammer to accomplish. When "slapping the crap out of it" all it does is mangle the round on top. The mags have sat fully loaded when not in use for 5 months now and have not relaxed one bit. The best I can tell the springs are bottomed forcing the last round in.
I haven't carried it because of this and would really like too. I've been lazy (have 2 other pocket guns) but It looks to be time to call S&W.

After a couple of complaints to SW they finally sent me the improved spring and followers.
I can load 12 in my Fl gun with a loader and 10 in my Nj gun by hand.

How recent was this conversation with Smith? I've had the mag capacity issue with some of my BG2.0 mags.
I can just get 10 in some mags, just, and seating it, against a closed slide, requires brute force.
Other mags will seat, full, without problem.
