Just got MY new Shield ...seems like everyone in the world has one.Have made 2 range trips this week. First day 83 rounds and while shooting the very first mag had 3 failures to ignite. Seemed as if the striker either did not cock or the strike was weak.Did not look at the primer to verify a hit but pulled the slide back enough to reset the striker and fired the rounds. Only failures of any kind. Today I shot 111 rounds and it happened once.Seems to be getting better but was wondering if anyone had encountered this and what the outcome was. Thanks, John

John,

I also just picked up the shield .40 this month and I can tell you... it is a highly desirable gun and most people want it more than they have it where I am at in FL.

I am sorry to hear that about the misfire... I have heard that some people had a "break-in" period of about 500-1k rounds... I have shot around 100 rounds through mine and haven't experienced a single issue. If the problem persists after the 500 round mark I would contact S&W to see what they have to say.

Yes,I had cleaned it...both times. Was just wondering if the striker spring could 'set in'(if that`s the term,or similar). Maybe I`ll try and flush out the channel with de-greaser and use compressed air. Sound OK ??

Yes, I go with robkarrob's suggestion: Try a different brand of ammo.
