New Shield 9, new box!

I bought Shield 40 last month and it came in the same color box.

I like my Uplula so much I bought a second pink one. It's for my 4yr old daughter when she grows up. That's the one I take to the range. Bright pink is easier to see in dim light and nobody will swipe it.

CONGRATS on your purchase. I fell head over hills for the shield 9. I recommended it to my girlfriend when she was looking for her 1st firearm because of all the position feedback I saw on the forum. When I first held it I knew I had another gun on the list. Then I took it to the range and the shield went to the top of the list. Sweet shooter. I was surprised being it such a compact gun. I went and ordered a shield 9 for myself the next week. I see a shield 40 in the horizon. I know I got a problem, to many guns not enough disposable income. I might need a intervention.

I had no problem with my 7 round mag, but the 8 round was next to impossible. Even with my Uplula, the 8th round had to be forced in. Called Customer Service and they're sending me a new 8 round mag. Very good service!

good to know. my 7-rounder may be like that. definitely hoping the Uplula will help (i know it will.)

Both of mine, the 7 and the 8, were very stiff loading the last round at first. I didn't use an Uplula then. Four months later both are easy to load by hand.

I guess these shields are flying off the shelf. I bought one two weeks ago. With a couple hundred rounds downrange, I can say this thing is great. Great trigger, accurate, easy to clean, and manageable recoil. I would have preferred a hard case instead of a cardboard box, but very happy with it!

Agreed--I can't get too excited about a cardboard box no matter the color. I guess they figure since it's a carry pistol, people don't need a case to transport it. When I got my Shield I had to buy a hard case so I could follow the rules of my range. Only 10 bucks though. Have about 1500 rounds through mine now, and it just gets better all the time.

Congrats on the new purchase.The shield is an awesome gun! I got my 9 a few weeks ago and have put about 400rds through it and performed flawlessly. Just got a quick ship multi holster IWB for it and it fits perfect and is comfortable to wear and doesn't move when I ride my ZX6 even when I wheelie

Congrats on the new Shield. I probably need to get a life if I'm worried about the box for a gun, but I frankly preferred the blue boxes.

Hey, the cardboard box helps keep the price lower. I can't argue with that.

I just had a 40 for a week... quickly sold it. My 9 shield has fired thousands of round without any issues and still runs like brand new.. the 40.. not so much. Way to snappy and my hand was sore after 50 rounds... a few hundred rounds in my 9 and nothing hurts. I'd rather have 2 shield 9's. Best gun ever made.

just put some of the Talon rubberized grips on my Shield. man, those things are great. semi-aggressive grip (but not sandpaper-harsh), and only took a few minutes to put on. super easy too. and they add virtually no width to the grip. still REALLY thin. I can tell the grip is vastly improved just holding it.

maybe i'll actually get to shoot the darn thing soon! hurry up, weekend.

Does the Shield come with that 'tool' to use on the sear deactivation lever? If not, is there room in mag well for one, or not?

(I'd be inclined to think not, in light of posted photo, above).

It doesn't come with that "tool" the full size M&Ps do. I guess there's probably room in there though, seeing as how there is a hole there in the grip. I just use my pinky finger or pull the trigger.

no. it does not come with the tool for that. there is no hole in the grip or mag well for it. my personal thought is, if you are breaking down the gun, you are ejecting the mag, checking the chamber for a shell. just pull the trigger. the lever can be easily depressed, though, with a small screwdriver or similar tool if you prefer.

CA Shield

I have the CA version with a magazine disconnect safety, and I can't pick up the gun for 240 hours, so I don't have firearm near me (and plead 'ignorance' if the following is not correct).

Say one wants to clear the weapon and field strip pulling the trigger. There's a problem.

If the mag one drops has rounds in it one must empty the entire mag, place it back in pistol, and then dry fire. Accident waiting to happen. Under those circumstances, the S&W way is the better way by using the sear deactivation lever after clearing the weapon and not pulling the trigger. I think it's better all the way around NEVER to pull that trigger unless you MUST DO SO.

And I really don't want to, ever, have to place a magazine back in weapon in order to strip it.

Therefore, in order to remove slide (field strip) I intend to ALWAYS press that yellow lever down, and thereafter it is automatically reset upon insertion of a magazine.

Brand new Shield 9mm

i just picked my Shield up today, standard with safety. Tried to field strip and the slide will not come off. Thoughts? Moved sear deactivation lever down, rotated slide lever down, but the slide will not budge off the frame. Cannot re-insert the mag to move the lever back up either. Very bummed.....
