New Shield 9

Just put 200 rounds through a new 9mm Shield. I must say, I like it!

The trigger is very Glock-like, which is a good thing for me, because I like Glock.

The thing shoots poa out of the box, and had zero failures.

It's for my wife to carry in her bag. It will replace her Glock 19 in that role. (Lighter in weight.)

Now she needs to pump a pile of rounds through it, put her stamp of approval on it, and cal it her's.

I weighed a fully loaded Glock 27 next to a fully loaded Shield 9 and there was only 2 ozs difference. I couldn't believe it!

A fully loaded Glock 19 is considerably heavier than a fully loaded Shield 9mm.

Love mine. Only put @150 rds thru so far but it's sweet.

I had to drift my front sight just a bit to the left, but now it's shooting straight. Good luck with your wife's gun…

Shield has a nice trigger, but there is no comparing it to the XDS trigger. The trigger of the XDS is the only credit i will give the XDS. IMO, it has a Block like trigger. Much closer to a Block trigger than that of the Shield.

Other than the trigger, the Shield wins hands down.

The XDs .45, that I have shot, has a lot of creep to it. Far from good. My Shield trigger has a very crisp, consistent break.

If an XD or XDs was my first pistol, I would be quite content with the trigger feel. But since I've shot so many S&W's and Glocks, I just can't warmup to the XD line. I don't find them lacking. They just aren't for me.

That's my opinion.

My Glock/SIG buddy fired my Shield and hated the trigger. You would think it was made out of rubber. He verbally trashed it. They (Shield and Glock triggers) just don't feel that different to me...

I agree. I have several Glocks. While the Shield trigger is slightly heavier, it is every bit as crisp.
