Haven't posted in quite a while. This is probably post #5.
Last week I bought a new Shield in 9mm after wanting one since they first came out, but wanted to wait until they had a little history behind them. Decent price listed, plus a couple of gift cards given to me by people that didn't want them, plus 20 off coupon from a sportsmans show, plus military discount, brought it down to <250. Throw in a couple hundred rounds of Rem 115 fmj for fun and out the door for around 300.
Today I headed out to the range and put 150 rounds through it. Once I got used to the trigger pull and grip I got my group down to palm size at 10 yards, with support. My only problem was the slide lock wouldn't set after the last shot was fired a couple of times. I loaded up again and threw the pistol up as if to fire and studying my grip I saw I had my right hand thumb was sitting on the lock lever. Adjusted my grip a bit and shot the heck out of the bullseye with no problem. I hated to stop at 150 but I had to save a few rounds "just in case". Now I need more ammo. Sure is a fun, easy thing to shoot. It actually shoots center of 4" bull when sight picture is on the 6 o'clock edge.
Funny part of the shoot. A shooter next to me watched me shooting and asked how far can I accurately hit with it. I took a wild shot at a gong 100 yards out AND HIT IT. He was very surprised. In my 65 years that is my second outlandish shot I have taken that I'm sure i could never repeat. Great range day.
So far I'm liking the Shield. Dave
