Just got my kydex tuckable IWB holster for the Shield. I ordered it from PJ Holsters. Looks good and is thin. Looking forward to wearing it and seeing how it feels. Hopefully, it will wear as good as it looks and fits the gun.

Congrats for your new holster. I always wanted to know how the kydex feels over your bare skin after a few hours of use. Would you keep us posted?

I'm not sure how much I will wear it without some kind of t-shirt between the holster and skin (esepcially as it gets colder), but will let you know if I do.

tennisguy,

Holster looks good . From what I here PJ holsters does a good job.

Never been a fan of J hooks. Under even average conditions they have not worked for me. Even Kydex clips tend to pop off the belt during hard drills.

You can glue a wickable fabric/thin foam padding on the back side of the Kydex to not wear so hard against the skin. I train every day with a kydex holster. I guess you just get used to it.

PJ Holsters was easy to work with, prices were reasonable, and manufacture time was reasonable too. Just email him and let him know what you're looking for, how you want to carry, etc and see if he can make something that works for you. I really like the thinness of the holster and it seems to hold the gun nicely too.

My J-hook isn't a full j-hook. He clipped off part of it in order to try to prevent it from being seen that much when tucked wearing work clothes. This was a suggestion from Paul when I told him how I intended to wear and concerns I had. Work clothes limit what kind of clips I can use without drawing attention to it. Some how to compromise somewhere.

I used mine against bare skin all summer in MN. No problems at all. This has to be one of the thinnest, lightest, simplest holsters ever made. Great product.

His holsters are really very good. I had one of his for my LC9(sold it for my 3913) and it was an awesome holster. Not a lot of bulk. I have one for my 3913 ordered already actually. Cant wait for it to get here. I'll post pics later as well.

In the last photo it looks like you have applied a velcro loop section to the J-hook. Are you wearing the holster tucked with a velcro lined belt? If that is the case, would make for a very low profile set up.

Paul at PJ Holsters put that velcro on it. He has a velcro mounting option which I wanted but he also modified the j-hook a bit so hopefully it wouldn't be as noticeable as the traditional j-hook. He also supplied a piece of velcro for me to attach to my belt (and I can buy more velcro at the store as needed).

Worse case, if I don't like that extra piece from the j-jook, I guess I can cut that off and that would leave me with the invisible velcro only mount, but I want to try this holster for a while before doing anything like that. I like what Paul did by clipping off part of the "J" on the clip; we'll see if it works for me.

My impression is--during the winter months I can get away with part of the mount showing as some other clothes will cover it, but in the warmer months I am probably going to need the velcro only option. But we'll see. I'm not making any judgements right now either way.

Got it in about 3 weeks and price included shipping and the addition of a sweat shield to cover the slide. Most other places charges extra for a sweat shield or else they charge extra for shipping.

You may be overestimating the level of attention that tiny little piece of plastic on the bottom of the "J" will attract. There are plenty of folks who use one of the various tuckable holsters (like the Sparks VMII or CrossBreed) with two full belt height loops and report most people not noticing the loops, so I suspect a little plastic nub on the bottom of your belt will be overlooked by most casual observers. Though, I do have to say, it really isn't hard to spot most tuckable clips if you are looking for them.

If you are really paranoid, you could make the "J" more of a straight line "I" or "L" and it would reduce the visibilty of the hook further. Crossbreed offers clips that use velcro and have no lip to catch the underside of the belt, so I think the velcro alone would likely be sufficient. Alternately: I've seen some people use a cellphone holster mounted over a tucked clip to hide it from plain sight.

I agree I am probably overestimating the level of attention from the mount. And Paul did make the "J" hook into a short "L" hook so it doesn't wrap around the belt like the regular J-hook. That was a suggestion from Paul after I told him some of my concerns.

I've never worn a cell phone case, but I have thought about that and I actually may do that until I am more comfortable with the mount, etc. Plus, all of my clothes were bought prior to my wanting to carry so I think some of that is part of my concern to, but I think I still have some room to work with and it'll be ok.

Well...not to be hateful or rude...not my intentions....but it seems all the holster is, is a piece of kydex. I would guess it would feel like having your gun tucked inside your waistband.
