Here is a pic of my SW9VE with SD9 magazine base plates. Much nicer looking than the stock ice scrapers.

Niiiiiiice!!!! Maybe my next online order I'll "pull the trigger" :D on a few myself. Where did you get them?

All I did was call S&W customer service and ordered by part number. The butt plates were 3.01 each. Give them this part number: 396590000. The ones that I received were SW9VE butt plates. I sent them back in with an explanation of what I was wanting and they shipped the right ones to me.

Is there any reason the standard Sigma butt plate cannot be shaped the same with a sanding wheel?

Yes I am cheap!

I did trim one down myself. The stock butt plates have grooves on the bottom of them and they get pretty jagged when you trim the front of the plate to match the contour of the grip of the pistol. It's not that big of a deal but the SD plates look like the Sigma's should.

Smith's addition of the 'ice scraper' floorplates for this model is one of those world-class pooch-screwings, that completely defies rational explanation. They design the perfected Glock, get the grip exactly right and even crown it with a nice round trigger guard. The trigger face is even more ergonomic than the competition. The gun carries nice, it melts into the hand and when pointed at a target- the sights fall right under your eye.

Then, out of nowhere, they add a floorplate that would be more in place at a clambake than on a carry gun. F-5 FUBAR.

Nhjeffs, did your mag spring seat work OK with the SD baseplates? I should have about four of these in my hands this weekend.

I have had a the slide fail to stay open a couple of times after the last round was fired. I'm going to do some measuring today to try to find out what is different between the two. I haven't been finnishing the mags when shooting lately because most of my shooting has been at pin shoots.

I did some comparisons last night between the base plates. Both plates engage the slide stop. I'm pretty sure the problems that I'm having with the slide not stoppings are the soft reloads I've been using. I'm going to get a couple boxes of production ammo and see how it works.

I've been trying to make some soft 147gr rounds for pin shooting and found that the ones I made for last night wouldn't cycle the gun. Time to bump up the powder some.

Went to the range last night with some production rounds and some hotter reloads. Slide stop engaged like it's supposed to. The SD base plates work great and look/feel better.

Just called S&W parts to get some of the SD mag bases. Said they weren't priced yest, so couldn't sell them! Will have things squared away in a couple of weeks!

I did it! I believe that I coined the phrase "ice scraper" a few months back. Just the other day, I decided to reshape them (I have 3). Put the mag into the gun, traced around grip base with pencil and took it to the disk sander...

Followed up with 200 grit sandpaper between the "tines".
Took all of 10 minutes and no $$ to do three of them.
