New Sig carry gun

Nice choice! You'll fall in love with it right away. That mini-1911 platform with the Tritium night sights hits the spot. Had this one for two years now, and it's been great!

Well we took it to the range today.. Between the darling husband and me, we put about 120 rounds through it. Most of that was me. He was great, I currently only have 2 mags for it. So I would shoot 1 mag and as soon as it went to slide lock, he was handing me the next mag already loaded.
The gun shot perfectly. Zero issues. Luckily it likes my trigger finger to be up to the first joint. Same place all the 1911's I have shot for years like too. I discovered that I was "turtleing" my shots.. I was bringing my shoulders up and scrunching my neck down into my shoulders. I noticed when I relaxed after a shot and dropped my shoulders, my point of aim changed. So I concentrated on not turtleing, and my groups improved a lot. With turtleing, my shots were being "jerked" down.. I now think that it was more my POA was skewed from this. As soon as I dropped the shoulders and brought the gun up to my face instead of squishing my face/neck down to bring them to the gun, rapid improvement. I will have to concentrate on my shooting form the next match to see if I do this with the 45. Maybe the gun isn't hitting low, maybe it is me (though the 45 did the same for the darling husband).

Anyway, all in all a great day.

Nice choice, I have and like the p938, but mine had a super heavy trigger, I googled it and found others had used a lighter mainspring for a colt mustang and that helped at least 1.5-2 lbs off the trigger pull. It is still a little heavy but safe and a big improvement. A little stoning and touch up of the internals helped the trigger too.

I wish they made laser grips for it. I don't care for the trigger guard laser that is offered.

Does anyone pocket carry the 938? If so, what holster do you use. I still question the wisdom of pocket carrying cocked & locked.

No pocket holster just I just carry it in my front pocket. Hammer down safety on. It's easy to drop the safety and cock the hammer while it's still in your pocket. A Blackhawk size No.8 nylon holster is a very comfortable IWB holster which you can also use in your pocket. It doesn't grip the gun like some leather holsters.

I think I'd rather have it cocked & locked then depend on the firing pin safety if my thumb were to slip.

These little guns are very appealing. I'm going to have to ask the mods to close this thread, cause you guys are kinda killing me...:D

I really like this rig from Lobo. Hope you will post more pics of this when the gun comes in to go with it.

You will love your 938! It really is a nice firearm..of course you realize that all these pics serve only to tease you until you get your "get out of jail card"! Here's one more:

Seriously tho, I see several variations of this pistol on the SIG site, which one is this?

Okie, I would guess that he has after market grips on it. The only smooth "wood" grips from Sig are the rosewood with the gold medallions that I got. At least that I know of. If you get one, I am sure you will love it as much as the rest of us do. One thing to be aware of though.. the guide rod is 2 pieces screwed together. Some people have reported their guide rods coming apart. If yours starts to do this, do not just tighten it backup and figure that you can red Luctite it after you get back from the range. I noticed it on a Friday afternoon. Shot it that night at ladies night. Took it to the outdoor range that Sun. and put about another 150 rounds through it. Came home, took off the slide to Loctite the guide rod and the recoil spring went boing. The guide rod separated at some point and the rod part was gone. Sig is good and they are sending me a new guide rod and spring, free. The shipping is stupid slow though. It is supposed to get here on the 10th of April, 12 days after I called. They are killing me!

Thanks AGoyette for the heads up on the guide rod. I actually read about this fairly common minor issue with these guns just yesterday as I researched the P938 a bit. It's still a mighty attractive pocket gun, even with this little niggle.

Hope Sig hurries the parts to you. Even with slow freight, sounds like pretty good customer service from Sig.

Btw, I think the rosewood looks awesome! I hope you will update this thread with your continued experience with the P938.

Actually, I've had it for a while and I don't know  it was not a model listed on Sigs site. Came with two mags and fiber optic front night sight, and regular night sights rear and Hogue rubber grips. Gun was too magnificent for black rubber, and although they were functional, it deserved a set of Mahogany grips. AGoyette is correct ...grips are after market.

The sigs are nice guns. I got a p938 to replace my lc9s about 2 months ago. Both are good guns but I like the feel of the sig better.

My wife is looking at getting a 238. I shot my buddy's new 238 on Saturday and liked it. Now I just have to get the wife out to take it for a test ride to see if she likes it.

Troll,
You might want to have her shoot the 938 too if possible. I have heard people say that the 938 is more comfortable to shoot than the 238. Something to do with how the gun recoils. I was looking at the 238 and was steered towards the 938 by my gunsmith and the guys at my LGS (who are also in my shoot club). A bunch of them have and carry the 938 and love it. After I bought mine, I found out a bunch of the guys I shoot with Tues. nights (USPSA) also have 938's and love them.
