So, I was pleasantly surprised to see a nice little box on my doorstep when I got home lastnight, courtesy of the guys in brown.

Enter the Sightmark reflex aiming system. first of all, for the $35 delivered that I paid, this sight is a outstanding bargain! And.. its already been 'battle tested' thanks to an unsuspecting crow that decided to land in the birch tree on the right, in the below image. its about a 65 yard shot, and it was spot-on! (and no, he didnt know the difference between a federal bulk round, and a stinger! ;))
it seems to be plenty bright, but its kind of overcast/snowy here today, so I cant speak to what it might be like in direct sunlight. however, i did turn it up to 7, and point it at 250 watts worth of light, and had no prblem seeing the mark. however, even if you CANT see it in direct sunlight, who cares.. you have plenty of light to see the iron sights.

I made a .Gif to show 3 out of the 4 aiming recticles. (i didnt bother to show the single dot. Im sure you can use youre imagination to figure out what it would look like.)
In the .gif, it appears that its sighted to the right, but its just the way I lined up the camera.. oh well.
In the shot, the gun still has the factory iron sights. I should be getting my flip-up rear sight in the mail today, but really, you dont need to go that route. It is very easy to see, and use both sights at the same time, cowitnessing.

I have a similar sight, and I still like it even though I'm switching over to a scope. After 50-60+ yards the reticles are just as big, if not bigger than the target I'm shooting at, and it messes with my eyes. Plus I just love the fact of being able to zoom in. Cool pic though!

yeah, I can understand where youre coming from, regarding the recticle becoming too big. For me, I look at this gun as being a sub-100 yard gun. Ive still got 20/10 vision, so i dont have a need for a scope up to this range. but.. I can see where it would be nice to have the option. what scope are you going with?

Yeah I also agree this is a sub-100 yard gun. I'm not sure yet what scope, I keep going through all the forums on here to see what everyone is using and what looks good. There are too many good looking scopes to choose from!

Any Suggestions??

I think Ive seen a 3 or 4x F-ACOG. take a look on Ebay. i think i had done a search for 'ACOG' and sort by price.

Yes, I have enjoyed using my SightMark Holosight. Works and looks good. You did well on price. Gotta watch out..... there are lots for sale at twice the price.

Among the cheap stuff... and for shorter distances... . I like the fixed 4x scopes. Seems like you can get better clarity over the variable powered scopes among the cheap brands.

Ok I'll Look.. I didn't even know they made Fake ACOGs!

Yup, they sure do! IMO, its the best looking X-powered scope for this gun.

lol, I had gone into Dicks sporting goods, hoping to find one locally.. they had a 'TRUGLO' on 'sale' for $60, from $80!!
keep in mind, they list the sightmark on their website for $50. when the sales guy told me the price of the truglo, I laughed, and mentioned the price of the sightmark on their site. he told me that the sight isnt even the same company, and that the site just buys the name-use from Dicks. I said, "Oh, thats neat! ...see ya later!"

I had found mine of amazon for $27, + $8 S&H. when I got it in the mail, the supplier included a %5 coupon code with it.

I don't care for the multi-reticle sightmark type sights. I've had problems with them not holding zero. Specifically because of the multi-reticle selector switch detent wasn't positive enough to to hold the reticle in place and would drift between the settings a little under fire.

hmm.. the detents on mine seem pretty solid. by chance, did you try more than one version? Im wondering if maybe you had a bad copy.

So far (75 rds.) its held where i set it, but.. its only been 75 rounds, so I guess we'll see what happens over the next few days.

eBay Store - Invisiblesight Online Shop:

Here is an ebay shop that sells fake ACOGs and EOTECHs as well as some other sights and lasers. Their stock changes from week to week so if you don't see what you want check back or email the guy. I have owned both an ACOG and an EOTECH from them and they are remarkably well built. The ACOG that I had was only the cross hair variety and though they sell them with colored dots I have not seen any that have the chevrons that some of the real ACOGs use. The EOTECHs come with red and green reticule options that toggle when you press the center NVG button. The reticule is a dot within a circle but it doesn't have the 4 quarter marks around the circle like the real one has. The housings are well made but the glass on the EOTECH was not colored from the front side allowing others to see the reticule if they were right in front of you, which shouldn't be a problem for a plinker as it would be on a service rifle.

I owned and resold both sights before I bought my 15-22. I intended to use them on my paintball gun but found them to be too heavy for the pball gun so I sold them, so I have not seen if they hold their zero when used with real gun powder.

However if you look at the reviews people leave they say that they work very well, and the guy I sold my EOTECH to said that he had to modify it some but it works great on his plinker. He didn't say what the modification was. I am thinking about getting another one of these for my 15-22 but seeing as how I haven't shot it yet I want to focus on getting the iron sights dialed in plus I have a fake PAQ4 on there with a visible red laser that I got from a different ebay sight.

I was active duty Army Infantry from 03-07 and I carried an Eotech on my M4 all through my second run through Baghdad. I can say that these sights are pretty good for the price but they are definitely not a replacement for the real thing on a full sized rifle. One thing that also bothered me a little was that the reticule would remain the same size regardless of how close you were to the sight. So if you happened to look from the end of the buttstock the reticule would take up the entire viewing area. It wasn't a problem if you were looking from the average cheek weld area, but it was just a little bothersome since I was so used to the real thing.

Man those look just like the real thing!! Might have to look into His stuff a little further!

I am a newbie and need a bit of help with "co-witnessing". I have a Sightmark Sure Shot Relfex Sight that i just received. The view i have through the sight is similar to the one posted in the picture. Should i basically be looking "through" the iron sights? Or above them? Seems I read somewhere that ideally the reticle should be above the iron sights.

Can someone set me straight?

Thanks,

Jim
