Due to my aging eyes I need to upgrade the sights on my Shield. I would like something that works good at night but I don't want to sacrifice daytime visibility. I have read the horror stories about replacing the Shield sights so I'm looking for suggestions for sights to fit my needs and suggestions for a gunsmith familiar with the Shield.

That is the issue I have had with my Shield. I have Trijicon HD sights on my 9c, but right now Trijicon doesn't make them for the Shield.

Amiglo (however you spell it) has sights for the Shield very similar, but currently sold out.

I called five different gunsmiths in my area before I found one and who said he would consider changing sights on the Shield, but wasn't very thrilled about it and said it would cost $50-80 depending on how long it took him.

My Shield has Ameriglo sights and I've been pretty happy with them - AmeriGlo Weapon Sights | Complete Sets. They are so popular that you have to check their website for availability on a daily basis.

Removing the old sights has been difficult for many Shield owners. I have a lot of free time so I decided to use a hacksaw.

Buy your sights HERE and the install is FREE. I ordered the TFO sights and had them install them. Quick turn around and they even installed my Apex USB while they were at it. Couldn't recommend them any higher.

My Shield is the first pistol I haven't been able to install sights on - Could NOT get my rear sight to budge. YMMV.

That is who I used to put the sights on my M&P 9c. Good quick service and good price.

Yeah I used the B&J Machine P-500 on my shield. The only downside is the little bit of time it takes to setup (initial use and when switching to a different weapon). The MGW is very high quality and easy to use, but I got tired of purchasing a different MGW pusher for each weapon I had. The P-500 easily pushed the rear sight off my TRP...for those that are familiar with how tight Springfield Armory's sights are. If I only had a Shield, I would definitely get the Shield specific MGW.

How long did it take you with the p500

Setup? ...a few minutes. I like to double/triple check clearances. Once you understand how the pusher works it's simple.

But like I said if you want something idiot proof and simple to use, the shield specific MGW is definitely the way to go if you don't mind purchasing a separate pusher for a specific weapon.

The Trijicon HD's fit just fine on the Shield and I very highly recommend them! Their design makes for a easy and quick front sight acquisition and they are awesome at night / low light! Get them and I guarantee you won't regret it. The sights on the Shield are a biatch to get off and are on their pretty tight.

How many times do you plan to remove and reinstall sights on your Shield to justify a model specific sight pusher? My local gunsmith removem and installed my Ameriglo's in less than fifteen minutes for $20. Money well spent.

XS big dots on mine. Hit the little red bulls eye every time I line it up and hold it steady. XS also sends a delrin punch that you can use after pushing out the original with a brass or steel one.

The Trijicon VP here at a local SWAT Event told me they would hang over the edge on my Shield ( I love them on my Glock G19).
Local Gunsmith said they may not work for POA=POI on an a Shield.
Would love to find out this is all BS and that hey work fine on a Shield w/o modification.
