hello,
proud owner of a New Sigma40VE. now to get some rounds down range!

my interest in hand guns was rekindled recently as I was planning for an extended fishing trip. cheap was my first priority and after a visit to a local gun store my eyes were opened to a whole new world of hand guns.
my experience with hand guns was military related and included the 1911, S&W .38, and S&W .357. fired a few others including some time with a Ruger Match .22. so when I saw all the choices under glass, I was, well, unsure. after a few minutes with the salesman and getting my hands on as many guns as I could, I just couldn't put the Sigma back in the case!
I then visited a local gun range that offered rentals and put 100 rds thru an SR9 'cause the Sigma40 was not available. made me want the Sigma even more.
now that I have it, the first thing was to add a Hogue grip. made a huge difference in the way the gun fits my hand. I am ambi but left eyed so more lefty with a hand gun. the trigger is sooo not an issue. long, yes, smooth as a babys' butt and snaps clean. better than some of the DA revolvers I tried. after I get some rounds thru it I'll come back for details of my experience.
thanks for the opportunity to visit, learn and share.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new 40. If you are used to shooting DA revolvers then you should love the Sigma too. I carry mine everyday for my SD/CCW and love it. If you think that the trigger is good now, wait until you get about 500 rounds through it. The trigger will even smooth out more. Feed it anything you want, it will take just about everything without fail..Enjoy.

Welcome aboard and I too am waiting on my Sigma 40 from the range. I have the Sigma 9 and it's sweet.

an update:
no visit to the range yet. been lurking about for more info about sights, lights 'n' lasers. getting hints from all y'all and working on my trigger finger(s) and just getting to know the Sigma.

then I saw a mark on the barrel, between the 'W' and the slide. took it apart and found some unfinished machine work.

Q? should I take it back to my LCS before I call S&W or do I try to clean the mess myself?

TIA

Ron

Enjoy your sigma. Mine is more fun to shoot that my other guns. It's absolutely easy to deal with in all regards. I would shoot it first, than decide if you want to do anything about the mess. It seems S&W leave a few things unfinished in the ve. It does not, however seem to hurt the guns feelings at all.

thats not unfinished machine work its how the sigma is they all are like that 9ve and 40ve.
providing I understand you right.

tried to outline the areas that bother me. the CNC work, where the cutter left a fair amount of grooves behind. then the rectangle at the breach was high enough to scratch the top of the barrel.

cleaned the barrel with 1500 W/D. the insides took 400 grit and more elbow grease. put it back together for now. I will have it apart later to polish the top of the block and nave a look at the trigger. and some more pics.

Congrats on your Sigma. For some reason, there are alot of nay-sayers on the internet regarding this pistol. Pay them no mind. I've had/have revolvers, so the trigger that so many gripe about is a non-issue for me. This .40 Sigma is my first semi-auto, although I have fired lots of 'em belonging to friends or rented at ranges. I love the feel of it and the way it points. I only have about 200 rounds through it so far, but not one single malfunction. I really like this pistol.

yea, the trigger is not an issue for me and I'll have about 1000 pulls on it before I get 100 rounds through it. I know it's a point and pull gun and not a target type. a capable home and carry gun that will serve me well.

Ron, my new 40 had the same marks on it, took apart and polished the top and side of the ejection port of the barrel.
After about 50 rounds it still looks good, marks gone.
The polished results look good too :o

I didn't get my Sigma 40 because it's still back ordered at the range so I opted for another 40sw pistol.

It's my range's suppliers, they can't get any. I know some online vendors got 'em, I've seen 'em.

Anyway my range officer told me that they have a special on Sig Sauer P250c 40sw and I only have to pay $103 difference so I got it. Great pistol.

And I'm keeping my Sigma 9mm. :)
