New Springfield Armory Garrison

In the recent past, SA has stated their 1911's are made with 100% American slide, barrel, and frame forgings. I do not re-call them stating what forge was used.

Fact is it is very common for manufacturers to use parts sourced to their needs and specs. Last maker of note that I can remember who strived to make every single part in-house was USFA. Their gone now.

SA's business model has been successfully used in the past by some pretty well regarded firearms brands. Browning comes to mind.

In the end, I look over a gun I am interested in, and I judge whether the quality is there or not, and go from there. Seen some stinkers from both US and foreign makers in the past.

This thread got me off high center and I ordered a blue Garrison in 9mm. It's in transit and I should have it in a day or two. One slight disappointment is that it comes with only 1 magazine. Springfield doesn't have them in stock so I bought a few Mec-Gar mags. I've never owned a 1911 in 9mm. I have a 38 Super 1911, which is almost the same, right? ;) I plan to shoot a few ISSA matches with it. Should be fun.

You will love the 9mm. Soft shooter and fun.

I have a Sig Tac Ops that I got for a steal when they discontinued them in 9mm. Fun to shoot but I don't like the permanent rail. Miss the clean lines of the standard 1911.

Wilson magazines are great and I use them with the Sig and will probably pick up a couple more now.
