Yesterday my local dealer had 2 brand new Walther PPS M2's in 9mm come in and since I've been in the market for a polymer single stack 9mm for a while now, I thought I'd guinea pig one of the first batch.

For those not familiar, this model debuted at the shot show this year and has been released for public purchase for about 2 weeks now. This model will not replace the first model. I purchased it in a well padded hard case with one 6 Rd flush fit mag and one 7 Rd extended mag.

Initial impressions were great. I've shot Kahrs, Glock 43s, Xds', and of course the shield. I bought this on a whim after hearing the stellar reviews about the feel in the mitt and improved trigger /trigger reset and that the original Walther PPS reliability was unchanged due to using almost identical internals. What I really like about this one is that it has an American mag release similar to my Smiths which will be easy for my girlfriend to get use to.

I shot 200 rounds of aluminum cased Federal at the range tonight and the range report couldn't be better. No malfunctions and extremely accurate. The trigger lives up to the hype and the 9mm shoots just soft enough for easy follow up shots.

Will this replace my chiefs special, or 4040pd, or 3913? Time will tell but I've really enjoyed the ergos while carrying it all day today. Accuracy is on par if not better than the smiths too. I highly recommend anyone in the market for a single stack CCW in 9mm to try one of these out once they are more readily available.

Of course, here are pics.

Looks like a nice pick up.

Couple of questions...compared to...
Felt recoil?
True to aim?
Price point?
Grip - tacky or abrasive?

Felt recoil is exactly the same as my best friends Shield 9. It is very true to aim, I also like the grip angle a lot. The glock 43 left my followup shots low. Grip and trigger are what did it for me, the grip texture is not abrasive at all. After 200 rounds I wanted to shoot 200 more. There are subtle humps in the grip that really make it feel perfect.

Price point was $419 plus tax.
