How are yall doin?

First time here on the Smith & Wesson forums. I recently acquired a model 915 the other day and I think I've read just about every thread regarding the 915 on this forum before I bought the gun.

This is my 3rd handgun ever owned, but the first one I've ever bought myself so it has a bit of a special meaning to me.

I haven't had much time to shoot it since I just received it Friday. I've put maybe 2 magazines of FMJ and half a mag of defense ammo. This is a sweet shooting gun, and in really good condition for it's age. Only thing I plan on changing are the grips with the curved back strap, and possibly some night sights down the road.

Here's a picture.

Congratulations on your purchase, and welcome to the forum. Very nice photograph, too.

Thanks everybody.

Does anybody CCW these guns? I plan on carrying the gun, but I'm waiting on my holster to come in so I'm not sure how they are yet.

I know they're a little tubby for a carry gun but I was on a limited budget This will also by my HD pistol as well so I wanted something a little bigger, especially for my wife.

Welcome to the forum Snap. Thanks for the info and pic. Best of luck.

Well, I was in the middle of welcoming you to the Forum when the bad gateway thing bit me! That's a nice pistol & you sure took a good pic of it. As far as carry goes, you can make just about anything work if you want to There are guys here that carry full size 1911's, so I think with the proper holster you can do it. That, & a good gun belt.

welcome from Washington state and what a fine S&W you started with...nice start to your collection ....I started out with one last December and now own 4 S&W's....my piggy bank is empty....:D

welcome.....very nice 915 you picked up.....hang around here long enough and it won't be your last:D

Oh I have no doubt it won't be my last, the nicer 5900 stainless guns are just hot, but money is always a good restraint. If you just don't have the money for it, you can't get it! Both a good and a bad thing actually.

Saves me a beating from my wife.

Thank yall for the kind words on the picture, it just used my cell phone but taking photos of firearms is a bit of a thing for me. Not sure why, just always loved doing it.

Does anybody know if these guns came from the factory parkerized or if it was something, certain departments had done to them? I've noticed some with the flat blue, and others with the park finish.

On the right side of my slide it's been engraved with "LST Defense Louisville KY"

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new 915. :)

The 915 is probably the most underated and nicest full size 9mm pistol made, by anyone. Enjoy yours! Regards 18DAI

that would be import markings from a company named "Net Ballistics"......your 915 was "repatriated" back to the motherland from overseas;);)

Thats who I bought it from on gun broker.

Very interesting. Where overseas do they use these hand guns?

my 3913NL and every other weapon I have come across on this forum that have been acquired from Net Ballistics seem to have come back from Israel ....;)

Will the straight grips off of the 915 fit a 5906? If they do, would you be interested in selling them to me? PM me if so. :)

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the nice 3rd gen Smith. Lots of good info sharing goes on here.

PM sent Kolpin.

Someone else will have to chime in with certainty but I'm pretty sure the 915 grips will fit on any 5900 series.
