I just traded fro this 1086 from member Jouimette. Thanks John. I took it out on a maiden voyage tonight. This is my 1st DAO pistol. It took a few mags to get used to shooting a semi auto like a DA revolver but I got the hang of it pretty fast. In fact I actually liked it alot more than I thought I would. (My acquisition was mostly due to the rarity of the 1086) They only made around 1600 of them. Anyway I was surprised how much I liked it:)
It was also my 1st 10mm:eek: What a kick Butt round:eek::eek: It was awesome. I have to get a 1006 now:D:D
Here is my target from 25 ft. Not bad for combat distance. There are a couple of mags from my Kimber Solo mixed in there too.

OH yea! Nothing says lovin' like a 10mm buzz'n especially when it's from an S&W! The 1086 is a fine piece, strong and accurate.
Enjoy it best regards!

I took it out again today. There is a lot to be said for having complete control over a weapon firing. Just you and the trigger and the sights. No decockers, no safeties... Simple yet effective.

Safety

On the Double Action Only there isn't a safety as such. Just think of it as a 10 round Model 610. Since the hammer is down unless the trigger is pulled it has a similar type of hammer safety to keep it from firing if dropped. Other than that, pull the trigger and go

The 10xx-series from S&W are excellent, solid autopistols. Accurate, and reliably built like a proverbial tank. What more could you ask for? We will probably never see the like of these guns again. I guess the 10mm cartridge; will always be thought of, as the spirited 'red-headed stepchild'.
