I recently acquired this 1865 Model 2
I could not resist .
The hinge screw still has niter blue on it and it appears to be un fired

Sadly, there is no back story I know.
It does make you wonder how it could survive all the years with minimal erosion

My own model 2 is in the same state than yours, but it was produced later (serial #55730). I too got it for a very low price, but still higher than yours. You're a lucky guy !

Very nice! A local guy has been trying to sell one that is nickel plated with a holster and cylinder pouch for just over $1000. It's nice, but more than I want to pay.
