New To Me 28-2, 4"

Did you remove the stocks and see if the guns serial number is stamped into the wood of the right side panel? That was done on non-target stocks like yours until the mid to late 1970's. Sometimes they get swapped out so it's always nice to have the factory-stamped originals.
Also, the grip adapter is a nice touch and is desirable as well. Tyler T-grip is the brand most sought after. I don't believe the ones produced lately are marked with anything other than the size inside, 4T for S&W N frame.

I've found the Tyler T grip is not so rare, but yes desirable. I just checked their site and with shipping, they are more than $40US, but forum members have been stating it can take MONTHS to receive one. For those less patient and willing to pay more, ebay is a good source. Manufacturer BK makes a plastic version with 2 mounting clips that has gotten good feedback. Pachmayr also used to make plastic ones, as well as S&W itself. But the metal Tyler ones seem to be the most sought after.

Beautiful M28, and from the picture I don't see any major issues or abuse. Please give us a report after you have taken it to the range.
Good luck with the permit process, in our free state we don't worry about such things.

Regards, Rick Gibbs

This was great to shoot with .38 spl and full load .357 mag.
A few "cylinder" .38 spl and rear sight adjustment was OK, after then it was only enjoyable shootings to middle of the target.
I like it!
