Well after picking up my Sig P225A1 and realizing how much I liked the single stack nine, I went looking for a third gen Smith since they were suppose to be the bees knees. I held a 3913 at a LGS about ten years ago and loved it, but I passed. So anyway I put a bid in on a 3914 Lady Smith absolutely not expecting to win. I like blued better than stainless, and I like the single sided safety, the shaved slide stop, and the angled dustcover of the LS/NL series. Well I won it! $397, a hair under $440 after shipping and transfer. No box but it has two blued factory magazines, one finger rest one flat. My pictures do not do the pistol justice. If there has been a total of 50 rounds through this thing I'd be surprised. Excellent shape. (It does say Lady Smith on the slide my pictures just suck lol)

I'm hoping to skate out of work a little early tomorrow and hit the range with this and the P225A1. Should be fun!

Very nice! Early 3914 grips were subject to a recall. If your grips have no dimple on the bottom, S&W owes you an updated grip if they have them in stock.

Thanks all! And thanks for the info on the grip. Mine does not have a dimple. I sent a message to S&W so we'll see what they say. Love this thing!

Well I got an email from S&W today about my grip. They will be mailing me a new one :). Great CS for a pistol so old. So far I have 125 rounds downrange and am really starting to love this thing. The perfect size.

Congratulations on a great looking Ladysmith! Those early 3914's really had a sleek design, love the slim levers and angled dust cover.

Small world, I too just picked up a 3913LS yesterday at a LGS. Nice clean gun, two mags and a rubber thingy?? Am told that if Mr.Smith wants to shoot it he should use the rubber, sorry.

Seriously, its a nice little gun and complements my 39-2 however the trigger is waaay different. My 39-2 has a light crisp trigger and is a joy to shoot. My LS has about 3/8" or more travel before letting off at right about 7 lbs. nearly shot a hole in the floor today trying to haul that trigger back.

The guy next to me had a 439 so I shot that also, it too had a heavy trigger but not as bad as my 3913.

Is this long pull/heavy trigger normal for the 3913? I would have thought it would have a better feel than that. The gun was surprisingly clean inside and shows very little use.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Paid $500 even, no papers or case/pouch, just a generic box.

Mistersmith,

About 10 years ago, after reading how great the 3913 LS was, I bought one. It was horrible! Worst DA trigger pull I have ever encountered. After researching who could fix it, I sent it to this guy: Actions By T - Teddy Jacobson Pistolsmith

There is a current thread in this forum describing Mr. Jacobson's work. He did a great job on my pistol and it appears he is still working. I would recommend that you contact him.

Get that handgun looked at by a competent S&W pistolsmith. It is more than worth the effort. As stated over and over, the 3913/14 etc. series are the best of all worlds for CCW. I like to take a new to me semi-auto handgun and clean it dry of all lubricant and then shoot about 100 rounds thru it. That will leave a tell-tale rub mark where that handgun needs to be slicked up just a little. Then with a little adjustment to the recoil and trigger springs, one winds up with a delightful EDC gun. ..........

I've experienced a few of the older 3rd gens like this with rougher triggers. I think it has to do with the early forged parts, the later MIM ones have very smooth triggers. An action job by a reputable gunsmith would be a good cure. Maybe a good internal cleaning as well, could be a few decades of gunk and grit in there making things feel worse.

The length of the first DA trigger pull may just take some getting used to on that gun.

Nice catch. I like my somewhat worn 3914 (supposedly a former PD pistol) so much I'm thinking about sending it to Robar for one of their refinish jobs.

Great pick up. I carry one proudly. If it ever gets drawn for it's intended purpose, it's highly unlikely the target will comment on the feminine logo.

That's a sweet little pistol. It looks like a new gun.

Congrats!
